When you talk to the recruiter, do not volunteer any information that is not asked for. Don't lead with how long you have been out of the game. Sell your strengths, past experience and get them interested . They will discover your employment dates when they do the background check. If you have a strong resume the recruiter will have a vested interest to push to get you hired so they will get their commission!

Meanwhile gather intel - go to your local truck stop or rest area close to your home 20 and see who is rolling through. Take pictures or write down the names and google them. Contact the Louisiana trucking association and ask for a list of their members .

If he were to be paid, he would immediately be banned from this site.

Thank you; I just got a pre hire letter from McElroy, don’t know much about them but a trucking company is better than no trucking company

That's great man! McElroy is good. You'll run a lot of those loads that go to Lowe's and they offer good hometime, good luck to you once you get on with them

They make everyone go with a trainer. Or at least that was the feel I got, when I applied, with recent flatbed experience (a boat load at that), and was still told I would have to go out with a trainer for 2 weeks I think it was. I just laughed and hung up.

Would’ve been funnier if you had your own truck at the time; I think it’s customary for experienced drivers with recent experience to do a road test and not drive with a trainer lol
