Roehl if thats where you've set your sights. You might consider looking at CFI( contract frieghters inc.) They are out of Joplin, Mo. which is gonna be closer to your house. I beleive Roehl is out of the deep south. Alabama or La. I could be wrong. Read my other post.

Roehl seems like the obvious choice. They have a program with 7 days on 3 days off, then 7 days on and 4 days off. I can expect to make 35-40K the first year doing that. Werner has offered me a job, and I'm waiting to hear back from Roehl. I have a 6 month gap of unemployment a few years ago, and I've heard that Roehl is very particular and might not hire me because of it.

Also, I do not have any endorsements yet. Is it adviseable to get the hazmat and all the other endorsements right away?

The way I hear it you will be sorry you went to Werner. If Roehl wont take you check CFI. The big diff. there tho is your not gonna get that gravy home time package.
Get as many endorsements as you can while you have the time. Once you start driving it's gonna be a hassle to study and then get time off to take the test.

Thing is, I have perfect credit, perfect criminal record, perfect driving record, and a college degree. If Roehl doesn't hire me because I was unemployed and interviewing, traveling, and playing poker for 6 months, then that doesn't seem right to me.

some companies are picky about that. I used to have the same prob. I'd run otr HARD for a year or two then take 6 months and spend all my money. Then back to work :) that was before wife and kids though

The companies want someone who is stable, they don't want a driver suddenly deciding to stop by Vegas or a casino somewhere while under dispatch, the insurance companies also see it as a risk, the other thing is unexplained absences from work are something that terrorists do, and this country is paranoid about that.

I passed a background check to work in a Vegas casino a year ago. I think they could tell by a background check what kind of person I am. If there are people with felonies and a GED getting hired in this industry, I think they could take a chance on me. Hopefully, they see the light.
