I was thinking about you, last night, as I dealt with shop incompetence for my service, then, crossed 80/94 both directions. I sure wish I could walk away, as well.
Another dirtbag strikes again.

It sucks to see good ones like you leave, but I totally understand.
Luckily for me I am in a local position where we only haul our own freight to one customer, and only in Iowa where things are (usually) pretty tame. There’s no way I could do OTR again unless there was a significant purging of the entire industry.
Even in my humble low key existence, I see enough foolishness on the road. I don’t go to any of those big shippers or receivers, but I drive past them and you can see the foolishness from the highway. Long lines, trucks waiting in docks for eternity, other trucks taking an hour to back into a dock, etc. It’s the same thing with truck stops. Every time I drive past a Loves or Pilot, I can see the round the clock foolishness from the highway. Trucks clogging the fuel island, trucks parked in the entrance, guys sweeping their trashy trailers out onto the parking lot, etc. I pass the pilot in Cedar Rapids every day and I swear every parking spot is full and every fuel pump is blocked 24/7. Screw all that! LOL... I just drive on by and stick with Kwik Star. Luckily most of the big fleets and dirt bags haven’t discovered them yet.blairandgretchen, Another Canadian driver, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this. -
The motoring public as whole has deteriorated as well..too many idiots with there phones in their faces and such..then trucking you have the morons with laptops or tablets with movies up and running while driving and legs up on the dash…every day you have to wonder when you’ll be in an accident because of one of these idiots..I wouldn’t be shocked if someone came up with some law disabling phones/electronic devices like listed above while vehicle is in motion.

when the training by mega companies for the government cash started, it went downhill from there.
when the private investors got together, and opened up chains of CDL Mills, it went down from there.
when the real schools stopped teaching what was really needed, and just taught them enough to get the CDL, it went down from there
when the requirements of an IQ went down, it went down from there.
when recovering drug addicts and drunks got hired, ex-cons and incredibly bad drivers were forgiven for thier bad driving records, it went down from there.
when good companies HAD requirements for experienced drivers, then threw them out the window and hired anyone, it went down from there.
see what i am saying?
this industry as a whole gave up on requirements and professionals, over nothing more than trained monkeys.
i truly hope the Feds step in deeper and deeper, and really makes the lives of todays moronic jackwagons, miserable.
