Ok I'll play ......... going with the truck & trailer theme only, from my background....

    .................. how about..

    a) transfer dump (what is it? and why is it called that? bonus points for including the old school nickname)

    b) Truck 'n Pup (dump truck version - what makes the pup trailer unique?)

    maybe too easy?

I'm running one right now, biggest advantage is I have 54 feet of deck and am 6 inches under 65 feet bumper to bumper. I can take all of the crappy length restricted roads. The setup really shines in hairpin corners on narrow roads, doesn't cheat like a semi.

Transfer, unhook trailer from dump truck and go dump the truck, come back to trailer and back over the draw bar. Then slide the tub from the trailer into the truck box. Go dump it and slide it back on the trailer. Hook up trailer and haul ### back to the pit.

Truck and pup. Trailer has it's own hydraulic ram just like the truck. Just don't dump the truck first unless you got the trailer jacknifed to the side.

We have a winner, I knew it was too easy :biggrin_25510:

Minor point - the transfer has 2 pivot points like GasHauler's rig and the truck 'n pup has only one at the pintle, combined with a really long drawbar and super short wheelbase on the trailer it makes it easy to jack knife the trailer to dump the truck.

Bonus answer; Old school nickname for the transfer is "Slam Banger"

something i learned from handling freight that people dont seem to get:

if your loading a long skid that is heavier on one end then the other (especially if its alot heavier), load the heavier end toward the rear of the trailer so the forklift picks up the heavier end or the guy who has to unload it might not be able to get the #### thing out

also whenever possible any skid over 1500 lbs use block pallets! regular pallets might hold but they might not and its not fun to clean up
