The person interviewing you won’t lie about the runs. They will tell you about what you will be doing. Just ask all the questions you can think of. No heated docks that far south. All the Chicagoland docks are heated, makes it easier. But dock work is not physical it just gets repetitive and boring. Dock work can be fun if there’s a lot of full time dock workers that like to mess around and the supervisors are cool. I’m still happy at FedEx after 7 years and 6.5 were road and I had some crappy bids. 40 miles to hub. Work dock 6 hours lol. But I jumped on the city side and I’m pretty content.

BTW you can make a killing out of a small center because you can work the outbound dock then do a short road run and have more dock time. I used to do that during covid. Was making 2k a week and the best part is they can’t give you a BS via because you started your log at 5:30 pm. If you have anymore questions you can send me a message. I’m not sure if MO is a weed legal state but in IL they have a heck of a time trying to find dock help that will pass a pee test. So I have been working the dock on OT after my city run making 52.10 an hour.

I would assume going to the same few locations all the time would get a little boring, but, 120k is good money for a boring job.Texas_hwy_287, snowbird_89, Gearjammin' Penguin and 2 others Thank this.
