Are you crazy driver? What the Hell you doing having them take hands off wheel?:biggrin_2559:
I leave mine w/ squelch set way up to keep the BSers out. Drive a lot in SD-NE at night I will talk to the bull haulers cause it's pretty lonely out that way and there are always a bunch of them running.

Ok i can pretty much say all major truckstops have the 25 at the same or higher price than the 29.

I dont use a cobra but im thinkng delta tune does the same thing as the clarifier on my galaxy radios. It seems like it did when i messed with it anyway. The clarifier on my radio slightly changes the frequency that the radio is on. Its not very helpful unless you have a frequency counter and know what frequency you ought to be on.

Where on earth else do you buy a new CB radio? I buy my radios from CB shops now but I just got my 949 tuned DOWN (to use with my linear), and the cb shop man basically told me whoever was in it last was a moron. Niice. It was peaked way too far. Over modulating bad he said, but made the meters go really high. (Funny, everyone on the cb said it sounded great..never tested it with a second radio though until after this...sounds perfectly crystal clear from 60 miles away on 19 now though). I bought my 99 from the same guy so I figured maybe i'll have the guy that re-tuned my 949 tune it and see what he says about it.

The CB shop that re-tuned it is the one at the Penn 80 in Milton, PA (used to be a petro). He really seems to know what he's talking about and tuned everything there is to tune, even my external frequency counter output... I'm not going to list the name of the "yeah lets turn it up so my meters go really high" guy until after that. I don't know if he actually tuned it. ;)

I wouldn't know about how trucks stops price a Cobra 25 vs. a Cobra 29 because I don't buy my radios from truck stops. I don't buy them there because they're overpriced and i can get better deals elsewhere.

There's no reason to change frequency ever on an AM CB radio. The clarifier knob is for when you're on SSB, incase the other party is a few hz off, you can adjust your receive hz to make them sound clearer. That's all a clarifier knob is good for.

I usually buy all my radio stuff online from Sparkys or sometimes I check craigslist for cheap CB gear. I like buying from Sparkys because not only does he have a good standing rep but he doesn't hurry his work to get you out the door; instead he makes sure it's right before he ships the item. Most CB shops, especially the ones in truck stops, are big time hacks just looking to get you in and out while butchering your radio and taking your money, so I tend to stay away from them.

Like you said in your other post, most truck drivers don't know and don't care how a CB works...well those truck stop CB shops know this about the truckers, and therefore feed off their ignorance, telling them things like "I can clip the modulation limiter in your radio and make it do 60 watts easy, just watch this here meter".....but what they really don't tell them is "you can't get blood from a turnip" and that even though you might be putting out 60 watts, you're going to sound distorted over the air, and no one is going to want to talk to you....sort of defeats the purpose of having a 60 watt radio doesn't it?
