Hello guys! I'm in Los Angeles and Riverside. What's the best 1st company to get into AFTER graduating from a private truck driving school? Swift? May? Marten? Which one will pay the most and have the best benefits...but most importantly which one will train me the best? Thanx so much.
Best 1st company?

So straight out of private driving school I wouldn't be able to get a job there because I need experience with an actual job first, correct? Or?
Another Canadian driver and Chinatown Thank this. -
I heard the best thing to do is graduate from a private school and then try to get a job, correct? Or does it depend on where I'm going? I don't mind getting my cdl by my first company but I was told to go to a private school first or they will offer a raw deal/contract, correct?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Yes private is the way most will tell you. But the job market seems awfully thin right now.
So going company training and passing will assure you a job for now. But you also might be tied to that company for a yearFullMetalJacket, cuzzin it, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes. Chinatown was just pointing out that Marten , as one of your choices, requires 6 months.
Swift does not require 6 months, as they are also a training company.
Swift has a bad reputation in many circles, but I have been with Swift going on 13 years.
In fact, nearly half the drivers at my terminal (Menasha, WI) have over 10 years and are 1, 2 or 3 million mile drivers with Swift.Stonehjl, 48Packard, bryan21384 and 5 others Thank this. -
After you get your CDL from a tech school or a community college, you could try these guys:
Werner Enterprises -- Fontana, CA -- hires & trains new CDL grads with no prev exp
This of course assumes they are in fact still hiring when you later get your CDL.
Right now....and for the foreseeable future -- the job market for new CDL grads is pretty thin (as explained above). You will likely need to take a job (like this one with Werner, if available) when you later graduate with your CDL -- if you can get it.

It depends on the dozen requirements you did not mention. The best shoes are the ones that fit you, not the pair most people buy. If the shoes don't fit you, the fact a lot of other people like them won't prevent the blisters on your feet.
Time at home, how often you get home, location of the terminal near you, cost of benefits, rider policy, idle engine/ APU/ inverter, type of freight, freight lanes, etc etc.Jamie01 and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Find the job THEN decide about school.Vic Firth Thanks this.
