Hopper, Dump O/O's & Drivers

I've had corn dribbled on the cab before, but never anything like that. That's sounds bad enough to be an insurance claim. How much stuff did it suck into the engine air filter?

I bet they would make great posts. How much creosote do the old ties have left in them? We had a torndado tear up a machine shed a few years ago that had been built in 1970. When we dismantled it, the posts in it practically had creosote dripping off of them, looked probably as good as the day they were put in the ground. But thanks to the govt, now we have to settle for green treated posts. I bet they won't be nearly as good in 30 years.

Same as what mslashbar said, about all I know to do is make sure you are running synthetic and be gentle with it first thing in the morning.

 

I aint gonna worry about it, its been a real nuisance and Ill probably end up having to replace the evaporator, but I wont raise a stink [pun intended] with the customer over it.

Some good news (if you can call it that) after Roberts quoting me nearly $2K for a radiator I did some calling around today. Most everybody else was $1500 on my rad, and those were the aftermarket made in mexico Phar junk replacements. At least I was told they are junk.

Phoned a company called Radiator Pros. The guy I talked to was actually familiar with my truck engine combo, and his radiators were from the same company that made them for Volvo originally. $735 + $55 shipping.

 

Oh it filled that cab filter, so much so that the suction from the fan side collapsed one corner of the filter. Allowing the DDG to come on inside the dash and clog up the evaporator core. You know all in all I would guess only about 5 actual lbs made it inside the truck. But, if ya think about it, that's a whole lot of DDG floating around LOL. Not to mention when it got wet from the rain. What a stink mess.

 

These up in NE are a little dried out but the ones I pull out of Ohio and WV are black as pitch and twice as heavy. I've got 293 on this load and the WV ones I'm lucky to be legal with 180 on. You can get them thicker too. I think these are roughly 6"x8"x8.5' and we have some that are 7x9x9 and denser wood.

I heard they were messing around with some kind of concrete and fiberglass mix ties down south. They're crap so far but they're putting in 3 million of them anyway. Waste of money.

 

No, I meant the engine air filter, did it suck much DDG into it?

 

Any of you guys know anything about the new pipe line being put in from Canada down into Oklahoma? Was at the Florence elevator the other day and saw about 100 guys standing around waiting for orders to get rail road cars full of pipe unloaded.

 

Oh, yeah a little bit. But, that filter is nearly new and I got the bulk of it out of there almost immediately so it didnt linger too long. I carry a little 12 volt vacuum with me on the truck.

I grabbed the shop vac at home and gave it a real good suck job too.

 

Nothing but vague rumors every once in a while.

 

Did I mention how much I love my wipers?
