CUMMINS Inc announced a new rating for its 11-liter ISM engine during the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky. The new 410-horsepower rating, with 1,550 lb-ft peak torque, means the ISM now has the highest horsepower and torque available for engines in its class, according to Cummins officials. courtesy of BULK TRANSPORTER MAGAZINE

Its the small Cummins motor for straight trucks, busses and rv's.

Just curious. Is this like a company driver thing with these trucks or are they going to em for the whole fleet, leasing as well? I have seen a few of those peterbilts and they were quite small, didn't see an apu on em either. Was just wondering cuz I don't think too many people would be jumping at leasing one of those, and of course paying the over priced payment on it lol :biggrin_25515:

No choice for a Company Driver... if they assign it, you get it. Someone mentioned they were able to weasle out of one... probably, but I wouldnt count on it.

You still have a choice if you Lease. Im sure if you really want one, they will set it up.

Change is change... I dont see what the complaint is... all the whinning. You want to drive "Company" either you take what they give you or go someplace else. It isnt stated anywhere that company drivers have a choice of equipment... you certainly dont get to choose your load.

A buddy and i drove for prime for one month and it was horrible. Electronic logging, truck being governed at 58. There was no money to be made.

Then you probably werent doing it right...

I was the 2nd truck in the fleet to be equipped with E-Log... I drive 55, my truck is set at 62.

Why no 58, cause I dont give them a reason to turn me down, like getting poor MPG.

At 55, I average about 7.1-7.3mph and good for an additional .01 to .02 per mile (at least) in Fuel Bonus.

Im made 48k last year. Ive seen a significant increase in milage and decrease in downtime compared to the first 3 months of last year. So Im hoping 50k this year.

This electronic logging has streamlined load assignments a bit. In the past my FM relied/remind me to update him with my available hours, hours used, current status etc. Dispatch can pull up my logs at any given time and see what I can and cant do, including my current duty status, and get me the best working load.

Sounds like you run yourself well there U2. I know I kind have poked at prime a lil but also explained that I don't hate on any drivers out there, we're all in this together. I think you read my post on my situation at prime. You went company from the get go, I went lease. I'm a comapny driver now tho and like it a lot better. Yes its play the company policy games as you very well know but its good livin for the most part.

Thats impressive numbers u posted as your earnings, am startin to understand why you speak somewhat highly of prime, I wouldn't argue much either. I don't much like the sound of the fuel mileage numbers deal but if ur down to play the game so be it. I guess if theyre paying a lil extra on the backside in fuel bonuses it makes it somewhat worthwhile. Imma still pass ya tho lol. just playin. sometimes I whiz by them prime trucks, other times its like passin swift but I do get em. I'm not shady either. I commented on ur other post bout passing and such. I hug that white side line like none other whether being passed or passing, no sense in being unsafe.

If you do get unhappy there you know where I be. You can get outta that reefer trailer too. Ugh, I didnt like it much when I did it but man, I sure as heck appreciate pullin dry van now that I'm doin it. A lot less hassle and more drop and hook:biggrin_25519: CCC1 lol

No big thing Gmoney... works for some of us, others not. I went company instead of leasing. Figured I needed to learn the game first, and second - didn't like the governments "rosy view" of the economy back in '07 and '08 vs what I was seeing.

U2 and I are dispatched off of the same board - we both are doing well. I did just under $47k last year and just under $48k the year before. That's with a 65 mph truck, and I don't give them a reason to turn me down either. Same kind of fuel no's as U2. It makes you a better driver to be under our restrictions - either you do it or you're out. I'm still on paper logs, but that's because my Qualcomm isn't new enough to support the elog software. That'll change when I turn my truck in later this year.

Wow. Way to give it a chance. If you would have stuck around and got your M.O. streamlined, you might have made some money. I have been on this truck for almost 3 months, and I can tell you this... we're running a ton of miles, and there is alot of revenue coming to this truck.

Part of it depends on when you were with Prime; 3rd quarter '08 to 2nd quarter '09 sucked for the entire industry. If that's the period you were running for us, then it's not the fault of Prime that you didn't have a lot of loads.

OTOH, "truck being governed at 58," pretty much says it all. No offense, but you learned how to drive a truck being a throttle hog. You need to work on your technique - even if it isn't for Prime.
