Now Honest TB? I normally agree 1000 million percent with your wise and sage advice, but I think you missed this one. Maybe he's a lonely heart, and needs some attention from a 1-900 number. Or he's the "chatty cathy" type, and craves a human voice on the other end of the line. Either way, until you've walked a mile(give or take) in his(or hers, as it may be) moccassins, you don't know the complete back story.

As always, as one who has his finger on pulse of the American trucking industry and can see the big picture with a single sly glance, you are absolutely correct. Folks oftentimes turn from the oft read,, well worn porn magazines stashed discreetly beneath their bunk and resort to telephone encounters with folks both male and female that can be reached 24 hours a day for a session of aural sex.

My $0.02. Unless someone lives under a rock they should know Amazon is a chitty company to work for. Bezos is what, the richest guy on the planet, yet rarely a week goes by without at least one news outlet carrying a story about dismal working conditions and low pay. To me that’s pretty much all I need to know about them.

Correct if I’m wrong, but as understand it most guys who pull for Amazon do so exclusively. So for the life of me I can’t figure out why any O/O would risk their financial well being running exclusively for them when at their whim they withhold payments. Even if you hire a lawyer and eventually prevail by the time you do your truck has been repoded and your house has been foreclosed on.

It’s already a tough market right now. Why take on the additional risks of dealing with a bunch of know low life’s?

    What does your lawyer say?

Oh you don't have one, then hire one to read the contract to you and learn how much time they have to pay.

The one thing I keep telling armchair owners is get a lawyer, give him a retainer and have him read through every major contract you have to sign to make sure you are not screwed.

Seems the common thread in 99% of these claims is the payments stopped when the banking info was changed.

I never pulled for Amazon bc I'm LTL, so feel free to correct me.
I get the impression that the reason it's so popular is because it's consistent. A 1099 driver can rent a truck, get onto their booking system and pick cheap loads at their leisure, using Amazon trailers, mostly drop and hook at DC's, and keep the wheels consistenly turning for the most part. I also think it's caught on with foreign immigrants and they spread the word about how easy it is to family and friends in their native homeland. Next thing you know more foreigners are here on their work visa renting trucks and doing the same. The job security is there and it draws in the drivers from less "stable" countries.

Bud A. and buzzarddriver Thank this.
