They bought up a bunch of Carriers. Conway for one. I’ve heard different things. Group of Swedish Investors for one. RXO was recently created as XPO Brokerage division. Same Brokerage different name.
Oh. So it’s XPO just changed the name. Makes sense I guess. I think I hauled an xpo load a few years ago.
i mean I don’t consider myself specialized, above most though I’d say, and the load I hauled was $7 a mile legal, step w/ ramps load. It was on a Sunday aftenroon thouhh. Still solid and she was a nice agent to deal with.
One of my customers is a demolition contractor. It got so bad with drivers showing up to demolition jobsites and hopping out of the truck in shorts and flip flops that I actually had to do this. My customer would literally send me pictures on one to two loads a week with these guys being complete schlubs while stuff was getting torn down around them.
Complaining about RXO is like complaining about the weather. They're huge. I hate things about RXO but I run for them all the time. Their agents are usually fast and honest, organized and they pay fast. Many of them have told me 'you don't want this load' after they talk to me for a few minutes. If you run spot you're going to limit your income in this tight market if you get mad at them and blacklist them. Same As CHR and a dozen other huge 3PL's I don't necessarily like but that occasionally provide me with great loads. I've seen those high value addendum loads on RXO's app lately. I skip em and don't think twice. Too much red tape. Just move on and keep your sanity!
I don’t know what the ridiculous crap is?If a customer has a certain way they want to purchase services what’s the problem? If you don’t want to,or find it not profitable just turn down the business. If I went to buy a vehicle and the dealer wants $40,000 and I say it’s only worth $30,000 that doesn’t mean he has to sell to me $30,000. People who complain about brokers are in most part have no business acting as business owners. In any business you have to be a good salesman you have to know what you need to be profitable and be able to get business that’s going to do that.Very few companies survive. When you can’t sell your services and rely totally on random brokers you call of a load board these brokers know you can’t sell your business when you’re doing this and in turn can demand what ever they want who wouldn’t.what makes things hard are people running there own numbers who shouldn’t be.
I can't get down with the tracking because of how valuable it is as a service and the fact they aren't actually tracking the freight but the driver's phone. I technically never refuse to offer tracking per se but rather counter with something like, "we offer live tracking services for a $350 additional fee." It's amazing how fast that "mandatory" tracking becomes not-so-mandatory. I also mostly post the truck and rarely call on loads. Leverage and need is everything when negotiating spot rates.
