I do not have hazmat, just never bothered & hasn't been an issue for me. But, I do suggest to others to get. Could make difference of load or no load in this rough time. I should have & may if I ever stop at home & have time to run up to take. (I only see homebase maybe once/twice a year, if that).
I need my TWIC for military bases & ports facilities. There was a DHS backround test for that. Is that no good for Haz?DexterSaintJock Thanks this. -
The TWIC card is for accessing certain transportation areas like rail yards and ship ports. Ive been to rail yards that didn’t require it though. Its not for transporting hazmat. You still need the hazmat endorsement for that.DexterSaintJock Thanks this.

Somers, CT Fall of 2012 graduated. Very true things could have changed or could be different now. Im sure the price went up too. Bet its 20k now lol

HazMat, doubles/triples and tanker are written (actually, computer terminal) tests that you may as well take at the same time you take the CLP test. Unless you have a single-digit I.Q., it's nearly impossible to fail. The passenger and school bus endorsements require a separate road test in a bus.DexterSaintJock Thanks this.

Ok cool thanx.
So even a class B job where you drive a big van or normal van driving people around needs the same certificate? Or is it different? Or is it specially for tv and film? Cuz there are jobs for lighting equipment that's prob class A and then smaller passenger vehicles but that's prob class C unless it's an RV or very large passenger truck or bus. Not sure.
and what is the clearinghouse FMCSA thing?Last edited: Nov 28, 2023

Yes things changed new laws went into effect. But just as before I would bet there are some differences in programs.

I know you need hazmat endorsement for hazmat.
I meant the homeland security backround check.
Would think that would be same/similar backround check for hazmat, when going for endorsement. Maybe not.
Should have gotten it in the beginning, just did not. Even though it was supposedly required by company at the time. (I was considered special. I took the short yellow bus to CDL class..... ☺)DexterSaintJock Thanks this.
