I don't think I'll be driving on many snowy roads but I'll look thru the settings and see what can be done. I don't care for many of the "features" on these trucks. Lane departure is one. Which can be turned off but you have to turn it off again every 10 minutes. And automatic braking when the front sensor picks up a shadow on the road thinking I'm about to slam into the back of a nonexistent vehicle. That's gonna be a fun thing trying to anticipate that on bad winter roads but you can't really anticipate it - it just happens.

Can you manually shut off Jake? And will computer overrule and use Jake when it wants to regardless if you have it turned off?

With mine, if the cruise is set the jakes come on. Shut off the cruise and they won't.

I'll be honest with you guys. Those trucks scare me to death. Go ahead and call me a dinosaur but there is no way I'd even ride in one of those death traps let alone drive one.

    One I just off'd was '18 Cascadia, DD15 & DT12. 520,000mi. (2yrs of it low mi contract).

High pressure fuel rail blew within first year. But, other than that only a starter replacement & water pump last fall. Oh, and cab mount recall. All warranty but pump.

All in all pretty good run out of it.

Crossing fingers for similar luck w/new one.

On mine I’m a company driver. If I have it in manual mode cruise on Jake’s will come on 1st 2nd stage if it gets close to someone in front. In auto mode with cruise yeah I worry for the engine and the rpm’s. Never felt it go into third with cruise on and manual mode. If it’s in auto or eco it will go into e mode basically neutral. And if you put the Jake’s on it drops Atleast a gear for each stage. Drop it straight into 3rd stage redline #### near eat the steering wheel. Gotta remember to put it into manual mode to avoid that and downshift manually. Once used to it not bad. Is real nice in traffic, or if the safety people get a notification of g forces in a turn just blame it on the computer. Hey not my fault it. Plus if it blows when putting the Jake’s on in auto mode, not my fault. Computer is supposed to be smarter than me.

When it’s in auto mode not my fault. Computer is controlling it. In manual mode I don’t let it get that high. You know the way we’re supposed to shift.

I’m in one, company driver 2021 model with only 200k rough miles on it. Best company truck I’ve been in yet, the KW’s & Volvo I had before wouldn’t have help up to the abuse I’m putting them through. I’m doing out loaded at 80k, probably more sometimes, back empty 90 percent of time. Speed set at 71, lifetime fuel mileage of 7.4, I’m on 2 lanes & in small towns with multiple red lights 90 percent of time. Some of the places we deliver actually have tractors staged on the dirt roads to pull us in when the roads get bad. This truck might fall apart next week, but it’s exceeded my expectations since I realized what I got into on this account. PS, If that nanny #### is hitting Jake brakes for you your driving like an idiot steering wheel holder anyway.

Wrong. 24 year safe driver here with at least 1 million safe miles awarded and likely another million or million five undocumented to go with it. I'm not a tailgater or middle/left lane hog, never have been.

The lane departure one goes off once in a while and is annoying. The front facing radar doesn't give me any issues at all except for the random nonexistent, ghost imminent collision warnings when nobody is around. The jakes kick on in the lowest setting when I'm coasting downhill doing 65-70mph sometimes even downshifting to 11th gear with my foot flat to the floor on the accelerator and no-one in front of me. It's just "what it does" or "how it's programmed".
