Hi guys. Just trying to get info on the real scoop of todays trucking. Just got my notice at work and I'll be on the street at the end of April. Twenty years on this job down the drain. I'm too old to find a good job in my profession and too young and broke to retire. Worked as a IT professional for 26 years. I'm 58 now and have to compete with kids just out of college who will work for half what I make. So, I'm investigating driving for a living.

I've enjoyed the posts I have read so far and think I can get the help I need from you guys. Forums are the best way to shorten the learning curve. So I hope to learn a lot from you guys.

    Welcome to the Forum.

We are a Font of knowledge. But a bit of advice first, get a salt shaker and know how to use it when reading some of the posts.

Thanks guys, I've been a fan of forums for years. I know how to apply a filter to judge content. I take all comments seriously and give everyone the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

This is the first forum though that I know almost nothing about the main theme. I have a lot of learning to do. My only experience was in the mid 70's when I had a CDL equivelant license when I worked as a logging engineer in the oil field. I rarely had to drive the wireline truck though. But, I did carry explosives and radioactive material around.

Welcome Kevin! You've found a good spot to learn most, if not everything, you'll need to learn to make some good decisions. Best of luck to you!
