Wal-Mart also sells an atlas that has all of their stores listed that are within 2 miles of an interstate.
We bought on several years ago, and it has been a real time saver!! They also have the addresses of the stores listed, and I always call ahead and make sure they have/allow big truck parking.

Not me. The only time I hit a walmart is if I stayed out on the weekend. Then I would drop my trailer and bobtail.

Many Wal-Mart stores are cracking down on truckers parking there.
Too many drivers dumping trash and pee bottles on the ground.
Rigs loaded 80,000 lbs to the gills bust-up pavement and alot of drivers can't drive and bump curbs.
Some truckers have even hit parked cars. -

Ain't that the truth!! No matter the revenue they get from drivers shopping, it doesn't equal the (sometimes LITERAL crap), left in their lots by lazy, inconsiderate steering-wheel-holders that call themselves "drivers".
But, a lot of Wal-Mart stores STILL let drivers park and shop.

I'm really surprise that alot of you drivers support Walmart after what they have done to local communities. Most drivers support American made products when Walmart has clearly lied about how they go about their business and where they buy their products from. They'll swear up and down how they will help the town and community then end up building right across the line so they don't have to pay the taxes.
Then the impact has forced many mom and pop stores out of business simply because they can not compete. The dedicated money to provide better roads and schools disappear because the only road building is the access roads into their stores. Business loans only go to them with the promise of more jobs. But the jobs are not full time and Walmart will eagerly show their employees how to apply for state assistance. If the employees even say the word union, Walmart will dispatch their headhunting team from corporate to fire those who speak of such a thing.
If I was in a truck I'd park there for sure but I wouldn't spend a dime in that store just to support those workers that barely make minimum wage with the threat of losing their job hanging over their heads. I hope it's all changed by now but I'd have to see or hear the testimony of the change on the whole.
P.S. Just my one political rant.Ducks Thanks this. -
GasHauler, there aint much alternative in some places anymore.
The area i live in, walmart has killed the local economy. Except its not even walmart that did it. From what I can tell, a smaller unionized competitor, Meijer, did it! But then walmart built a store across the street and kinda finished the job.
They're actually building a Meijer in Stevensville right now. But thats alright, Stevensville never did have a real grocery store. Where they are building it would be 100% totally impossible for walmart to build next to, however, I guarantee you that a Stevensville walmart will be popping up very soon.....they will not allow a meijer to exist without a walmart within 1 mile of it.
But seriously. if you live in an area where walmart has totally killed all the competition...and the mom and pop stores are places like, grocery stores that only sell groceries, etc, and I need...a TV...where do you want me to go? Best Buy? It's the same moral problem there. My choices to buy a TV are basically Walmart, best buy, meijer, and target. All big box stores.
And the mom and pop stores cant afford to pay much more than minimum wage either.
I completely agree with your rant. However, it is very sad that it's gotten to this point in some areas.
Also, most mom and pop stores dont have room for trucks.GasHauler and simplyred1962 Thank this. -
The thread about cooking in the truck has a link in it to a website created by RVers related to Wal-Marts with large parking lots, and those that restrict large vehicles. The links are:

Thanks to whoever it was that posted those links originally.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
Wal Mart in Plainview,Tx. will tow your truck while you shop. Many drivers have had confrontations with the tow truck driver but once he hooks up to you it is $400.00 to get unhooked.

Wal Mart in Arkadelphia, Arkansas has large rocks and yellow height bars across their entrances. The frontage road you have to turn down to get there then directs you to a "turnaround" several miles down the road. It's a "T" and the turnaround is a mudhole for 53' trailers, NOT RGN's, or carhaulers, which are liable to get stuck or "hung".
TruckStopPlus is a Microsoft Streets & Trips plug-in program that is well worth the $40 price. It lists all Super Centers, most truck stops & scales and any other points of interests you check--a useful thing when at the Pilot at 3 a.m. and don't want to spend $20 for a $3 item.
Yes, Wally-Werld is not what it used to be, but it's the ONLY 24/7 game in most towns....simplyred1962 Thanks this.
