To the sponsor, sorry. Did not mean to break the rules. Back up with facts. School graduate starts at 10 cents per mile. Experience driver (me), base pay is 13 cents, 1 cent on time bonus, 5 cent milage bonus, 10 dollar per stop after the first, 500 dollar safety bonus every 100,000 miles, fuel bonus. Take a 6000 mile trip, you will recieve 780.00 base, 60.00 on time, 300.00 milage bonus, about 50.00 stop pay, that makes 1140.00 check before my fuel bonus, safety bonus. This is facts off of my check and anyone else here that truely understands how team pay works. When you consider that you are paid for all of the miles you and your partner driver you can make a good check. If anyone would like to look at team pay verses single, then you need to doulbe the everything, 26 cents per mile, 20 per stop, 2 cents on time, 10 cents milage. Take a 6000 mile trip You can easily see that pay when you sign paperwork. Not seeing the money, yes, I see it in my check. I am not saying Carolina Cargo has never made a mistake, but they are always postive to correct it. I am smart enough to understand how team pay works. The blogs here are only informing other drivers of half the story. If you have any doubt, contact someone there. Talk to Linda, she will take the time to get you to understand how pay works. Also, call Calvin, driver manager. Calvin has been with Carolina Cargo about 13 years.
As far as empty loads, I am running my trip a week to the west coast and back. Nice loads. They have my loads ready for me, but I am a professional, and I do not let them down. I am on time, and I care about my job and the company. I have the attitude that you get out of something what you put into it. I have a postive attitude and that postive attitude comes back from dispatch. I can handle the pressure of being a professional truck driver.

KC, you are correct on the type of trucks. Also, has a few Volvo's. 90% are Freightliners.

Thank You, we don't have a problem with a member challenging someones post. It's when members attack with insults or derogatory/degrading comments towards that individual, is what we don't want. Thanks for the great post.

Baack Thanks this. -
Also, please add that you get paid on PC Miler miles, not Rand McNally short miles, I am going to estimate that is about 10% extra miles, you also get paid for all of your miles, not just the loaded ones. Yes, I have heard first hand of fines. The ones I know first hand is when a driver deadheaded from Md to SC empty without permission. I would make him pay also if I owned the truck. I was at the same dock on my load when another Carolina Cargo driver that did not use his load locks and had the load all damage, yes I would charge him to. My load was fine. That is the difference between being a professional driver and a steering wheel holder.
These are all facts. I get upset when I hear the false information. -
I do as well Freightbaby. You are not correct in your statements.
This thread is in the, "Report a Bad Trucking Company Here", for a reason.
Simple math:
Miles approx 4000-4500 per trip at .10 cents/mi would be a base pay of $400.00- $450.00.
With trips lasting in excess of 10 days
Deductions for out of route miles
Idling of the truck
No insurance for drivers and their families, if they have a policy then it is over $150.00 per WEEK not per trip.
There are other drivers and ex drivers here who would call your bluff and probably will. -
I can only tell you that my trips are great. My partner and me go to LA area in less than 48 hours, we rest until the reciever opens, stay in touch with Bobbie on the computer, Bobbie gives us a load, and we are on our way. It takes us about a day to pick up and a couple of days to come back. I add up max of 2 days out, 2 days back and a day for pickups. That is five days and an extra day for whatever happens. That is 6 days, with a day off if I need it. My partner and me do over at least 1100 miles a day, we can do over 1250 most days. We have had some issues with weather this year which slowed us down some. Now weather should not be much of a problem now. As far as insurance, look at any company and the insurance cost for a whole family. You are close on your family coverage cost for a driver. But if you look at any company, the 150.00 gives you a lot. CC does have a program for around 3.00 a week, which is a first dollar coverage. The only issue with first dollar insurance is that it has limits the number of doctor visits (about 12 per year), emergency room visit (about 4 per year) etc. First dollar insurance program is nice if you do not go to the Dr much. Yes, the 150.00 family program is expensive, but you get a lot of coverage and the whole family.
What is wrong with charging for out of route? CC furnishes a complete truck navigation program that has truck route in the truck. How much more does the company have to do? I am not a child any more, why should a company treat me like one. Give me the load, let me take care of the rest. Same with idling truck. Cut the truck off. Fuel is expensive. Again, I treat this like is is my truck. I do not feel people understand that out of route, insurance, fuel cost money. Help cut cost, and I feel that it will come back to the driver. It has for me.
You can get all of the drivers you want to call my bluff, but facts are facts. I have broken out the pay, insurance, even your miles per day. If it takes you 10 days to turn a trip, maybe it is not the company. -
Kicken Chicken you know as well as I do that Jim takes special care of certain drivers. I am not directing this to any certain individual on this board or saying that it applies to anyone on this board. But Jim will make sure that certain drivers get good loads and do not get any deductions for out of route miles, damages etc.
And speaking of out of route miles I have known drivers to be fined for out of route miles when they have gone the route dictated by a dispatcher. It is a really good possibility that you are one of the very very few drivers that gets the correct pay. I speak with Calvin weekly and trust me he is very aware of how Carolina Cargo screws the average driver. We speak about that quite often to each other.
and you say if it takes 10 days to turn a west coast trip then maybe it is not the company. I have taken loads from the Carolinas on Monday that the consignee will not accept until Friday and Carolina Cargo is aware of the strict delivery date but since they have very little freight they use that to get the driver out. That is 5 days just on the outbound load then it isnt unusual to spend the weekend in Cali with no load (WITHOUT PAY I MAY ADD) so when you do have a load on Monday you are on your 7th day. This has happened to me numerous times and about 20 other drivers that I know of. -
I have had those type of loads that have a delivery date way out, given to CC running a as a single driver from the customer. I call ahead and change it, cause dispatch tells me to. I know better when I will be there, again, run the truck like you own it.
Again, another false statement. Jim ain't dispatched no trucks in years. I got my loads from Curtis, then Chad. If there is so much 'screwing' with driver pay, I know they would have the labor board in there. All you keep making excuses, blame yourself. -
as info guys...Just heard that there are NON-DRIVERS on this board posting. Carolina Cargo office employees and mgmt are posting here acting as drivers. I got that info from a current office employee at CCI.
Not that it matters but just wanted everybody to be aware of the info.
And the Labor Board has been there on at least 3 occasions. It is actually a guy from the Atlanta Office that was there last investigating a claim. Carolina Cargo had to give the driver back pay and retract any DAC information that they posted.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 22, 2010

Then why is that office person pretending to be a mad driver, maybe they aint got nothing better to do.
