    hello fellow americans. my name is eric 31 years old out of jacksonville, fl. i have always wanted to drive the big rigs for awhile. i have a class a permit that expires in august 2010. i have a clean driver license, no points on license since 2003, no dui's, 1 careless driving in 1999. 1 suspension back in 2002 for not paying insurance (if i payed my insurance my kids wouldn't have food to eat) i have 1 misdameanor arrest from 1997 (marijuana) plead no contest i have a felony arrest in 2007 (doctor shopping) charges were dropped after i completed a deffered prosecution program (have court paperwork stating charges dropped) does anyone know a company that may give me a job. i have talk to a few company's like pam transport, central refrig, cr england they dont hire out of florida. cr england told me to move to georgia or alabama tyhen i could get on with them, the thing is i have no money to move right now. i am so close to georgia i am thinking about getting a georgia po box and license just to get a job. thanks for reading and all your input is welcomed

    you're going to need to get a license before you can get a job. Nobody will hire you with just a permit.

    My suggestion, since you state you're low on funds, sign on to one of the starter companies who will pay for your training for you. You need to drive for them for at least 1 year, but the training is paid for.
    Check with Prime, Swift, US Express etc. See if they have paid CDL training. I know Swift does. Looks like on their website they have a terminal in Ocala FL and Atlanta. I think Atlanta is where they do training, but again, I'm not sure. Go to http://www.swifttruckingjobs.com/index.php and check for more information.
