When I was with Interstate I hauled loads for them to Tacoma and Portland out of LA.

They loaded Interstate trailers out of LA and we hauled them to the Interstate yards in Portland and Tacoma and drop the loads. Latter Ashley would have their drivers pick up the trailers and deliver.

    They don't run cross country.

My first truck driving job was with a small furniture company called Vineyard Express out of Baskin La. They sent us across the eastern half of the US and had plans on extending westward. They trained me for an entire week before they sent me out by myself lol. We unloaded the trucks ourselves, and yes that means your pulling that cabinet out and getting it from the back of the trailer to the ground when there wasnt a dock. We delivered to stores and not warehouses. And thats a key component because delivering to stores is a lot harder, especially if you havent been there before. A lot of times you have to park in the middle of the street. I saw Ashley Furniture at the places I was delivering to so I guess there job was similar to mine :dontknow:. I was only making 25cpm and 15 dollars per drop. I suppose Ashleys pay is better but not positive. Anyways I quit this job about a year and a half ago. They cant keep hardly any drivers. I keep on seeing them in the newspaper trying to hire truck drivers and what went from 25cpm is now 38 cpm for experienced drivers :laughing8: lol. It appears the owner of the company had to fork out some dough because his drivers were running over peoples lawns and stuff. Thats what he gets for thinking he can hire just anybody with a CDL.

They have excellent benefits. And pay pretty good.give them a call and ask you will be suprised.there is no website for trucking dept. I would like to get in this company. But is hard to get in. They are not hiring right now. But I have my app in there. they keep it for a year. Every driver i have talked to loves this place.
You unload your own trailer though. You cart the furniture to the end of the trailer they take it from there. I hope I can get in this place soon.

I know this is a realy old thread, but I am a new member and doing reasearch for when I retire from the Navy. My mom and step-dad ran team for them a couple years, said it was the best job they ever had and the BEST Pay they ever got too. They were out about 2 weeks and home for 3 or 4 days. I guess if mom was still around they would still be there. maybe in a couple years me and my step dad can drive for them, he can't run solo due to he grew up running 3 or 4 log books and thinks that is the only way if you are solo

They are laying folks off right now. I drove for the Ecru Ms terminal, made great money, home weekly and off weekends. They pay hub miles, pay per drop, and don't tell you how to get there. Company provides a cell phone, no qualcomm, and will even pay for a hotel room if you take a multi stop run that takes two days to deliver. If you just want to drive, this isn't the job for you. If you want to gross 65-75k a year and be home a lot with some unloading involved, then Ashley is where its at. Awesome equipment and great management. I made 62 my first year out of trucking school, got home a lot because I usually ran back empty. I highly recommend this company. No I am not a recruiter.

    WhoopnRide,

No I didn't get laid off. I actually left on my own volition. My girlfriend, now my wife, did not like my job title and I got back into law enforcement. She did , however, like the engagement ring that I put on her finger, paid for by driving a truck, and the honeymoon in Hawaii that was also paid for by driving a truck. Ironically, I left there to get back into law enforcement making less than half of what I would be making at Ashley. That was a great job, and a great paying job. I was treated quite well and would go back in a heartbeat if I could. I do get to drive fast whenever I want, so it all evens out in the end (sarcasm):biggrin_25525:
