Hey guys, I've got a 06 379 with a c15 acert that has had me and 3 different shops stumped.
Crank, no start. Will run great after a shot of ether, soon as you cut it off won't start back. No codes.
New starter, new transfer pump, new check valves in the filter base, new filters, 4 new batteries.new hand primer, New cloth line from transfer pump to pickup in tank. Even ran it off a bucket and it didn't start back without ether.
I checked for power and grounds on the back ecm plug and everything tested right. The tachometer works so I'm at least getting some kind of crank or cam sensor activity. Anybody know what's going on here? It runs great and will make 47 pounds of boost bobtail
C15 crank no start nightmare

Could very well be the cam position sensor. I believe those years had two of them.

Not all problems set a code. Someone needs to connect to the truck with software and see what all the parameters are, sensors etc, Is everything in the normal range? What happens with the values/readings when the truck won't start. I would also closely check all the wiring and connections. Install a psi gauge in the fuel filter manifold. If you have a Davco check the check ball at the inlet.Last edited: Dec 26, 2023

I’m going through this same problem right now and I’m just confused it will start for a second with ether then dies down like it’s out of fuel, pressurized all my fuel lines they are all good took line off transfer pump tried to start truck fuel is come from there so that’s good, idk what it could be

I had a customer that had issues like this and his fitting in the back of his head was loose where the fuel line screws in.

Had one a while back like this, on that truck I found a injector with a bad O-ring. At cranking RPM it wouldn't make enough pressure to fire, but if you got it going off starting fluid it made enough fuel pressure for the injectors at idle RPM.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Ever tried another ecm? Injector drivers and capacitors would go out quite often with other brands. Not enough power to fire the Injectors while cranking.
-
What would keep pin 53 on ecm from having power?

Which connector? What is that pin for? I don't have a schematic in front of me.
