thaats wat happened with last load,,,was going to go out of route on I 10 to avoid the az/nmx/ok disaster area,,,but nightime refused to make a desicion,, told me to sit and wait for several hours and maybe someone on day shift would b able to give me an answer,,,,told him that he had just made the desicion and took it real slow and tried to stay behind the storm,, got lucky but just a few hours earlier and i would have been in the road closure

You guys should just run the route you want, are you L/O your are you company drivers,If you cant choose your own route than your company drivers. Your paying for these trucks, you should drive whare you want with in reason.I ain't going to let some guy on a computer tell me how to drive.I say to hell with dispatch and drive your route...

loads r run primarily on routes garunteed to customer and agreed to in contract if we fail to make delivery on route our liability is reduced or eliminated,,if we go off route then it is possible to have great liability claims owed to customer if late/no sshow...please remember,,,while we are o/o's we also have to adhere to certain parameters as contractractually agreed to with customers. so just going oor unauthorized?,,,,not!!!

WOW!:biggrin_25513: I have never heard a shipper or reciver say you must go a certain route:biggrin_2556: from what ive seen they could care less how you get there as long as your on time!:yes2557: I have enjoyed reading this thread but it sounds like you have no freedom! Just a few pages back someone HAD to take JCT's truck to the COMPANY shop before he could get it repaired at International and now they MAKE you take a certain route!!??:biggrin_2556:

SIDE NOTE: This is why the IRS is cracking down on the trucking industry for using the "independent contractor" status

Yall r missing the point. You can take whatever route you want but to get paid for it is another story. We're paid on pc miler short miles so if they aren't gonna reroute us why waste fuel. Most customers would rather wait then have to pay extra for difference in miles.

As far as forcing you to go to shop that's not a often case. Just one of those cases where misunderstanding took place. You're free to get your trk worked on whereever you want as long as you have money in your maintenance escrow account.

    What????
Never heard that before. But I never ask what route to take either. Where did you hear all the contract stuff???

Also to the other guys point we are NOT o/o you need to not think like that either. We are L/0 and there is a big diff.
We are about 1/2 step above a company driver. Trust me!! I will post more on that later.

Today I have been moving decomp trl's over to the other side of Tulsa. It gave me something to do at least, and was better than sitting in another motel. I'm driving a white classic xl. It only took about 45 min to get the aftermarket radio to come on.

So now I'm off to OKC to grab a load to pauls vally and then back here tomorrow for a day or so off while I wait on my truck.

    mushroom1464 Thanks this.

I only told my DM what route I was taking because I had to get on I70 for 22 miles and we're not allowed on I70 west of Denver and that is why I'm sitting instead of driving. He was just concerned that they couldn't repower me if something happened to my truck which I can understand but that area from I40 is not really that far out of route. Keep in mind we have customers who track our trucks en-route also so if my shipper looked my load up and noticed I was on I40 instead of what could seem the most direct route they may get upset. I'm not here to start trouble for the company I just don't sit well in one place for long.

Weather update for Wyoming I've been checking out the Wyoming DOT web cams on the road and theres places they haven't touched mile markers 250-330 road solid white. It's getting worse east of Laramie past Sherman also all the way to Cheyenne, elk mountain a mess also. We could be stuck here well into tomorrow.

LMB at least your at a nice truckstop :)
