Thanks for taking the time to answer my question Spanky. My wife and I are looking to get into the biz as a husband/wife team and we are complete newbies. The problem is that we would have to go the company training route and that we are from Illinois. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open for some other company.
Stay safe out there.
Jim -

How is Millis doin? -
wats up fooman? actually i'm waiting to go out with my trainer. i finished up with school then finished my 2 days of orientation on the 16th. my trainer took a week off and said we would crank it up on the 29th or 30th next week. every driver i talked to while in school at cartersville said they were getting GOOD miles and the freight was out there if you were willing to run. my trainer said he knocked down 3500 miles last week. he runs around 3wks out and said he was getting all the miles he wanted.

Fooman Thanks this. -
hey kenkenni, where you at? did you do your first week of class?
-
Yes. Very fast paced. Really need to get the shifting patterns down though.
-
as far as stuff in your classwork, is there anything that could be studied up on before going to MTI ? to help lighten the load?
-
hey kenkenni, it was very fast, good to hear from you man. just hang in there. wats up fooman? there really isn't anything to study up on. evrything is just head on as it comes. All the class test were do at home the first week and they were open book. first few days you will do logs and will go over map reading & watch some boring films about safety and such. the next few days for us were going out on road trips just bobtailing. the next couple of days were backing then going out on road trips with the combination tractor & trailer. you will be tested on your backing the second week and not even know it. the third week you will be road tested and not even know it. 3wks really went by fast for me... kenkenni i'll tell you something that might help with your shifting. just sit down in a chair and go through the shifting pattern just as if you were shifting gears and remember the gears 2 thru 5 & 7 thru 10 are square think of those gears in a box. 6 gear is on your hip.
