The gym that I have been going to since 2020 decided to cut all the locks off the lockers and dump all the gear into a big pile of lost and found. My bag gloves, my boxing gloves, head gear, wrist wraps, elbow wraps, knee wraps, deadlift straps and weight belt got thrown into the pile.

The kid at the front desk tells me that everyone who had a locker had a sticker put on their locker to notify them. I am in the gym 5 days a week every week and I saw no such warning on any locker.
“People were complaining…”
Who? There’s plenty of lockers, even during peak hours. Don’t lie to me, boy. But, your playground, your rules.

I went to another gym right down the road. Same cost. Less equipment, not as nice but much more hardcore ANNNNNNNDDD, they gave me a code to the door! No more holiday idleness for me. Sign me up.

So, I went back to the original gym. Stupid kid sitting in the background, but a young girl is working the desk.

“Hey Six! How’s it going?”
Going well. I need you to terminate my membership.
“What? Where are you going?”
(…silence…I love silence. Kid gets a mean look on his face and leaves the front desk. The girl brings up a cancellation form on the screen and I sign out.)
“Well Six, you can still work out here until February 15th and I hate to see you go..”

My guess is that they got new management and the new management was going to try to crack the whip. No worries, I can ALWAYS go elsewhere. Besides, I have always wanted to try one of these…

 

What kind of bar is that? Looks medieval.

I built my own gym in my basement back in 2022 and haven't looked back. On mornings when I wake up earlier than usual I just go run a mile or 2 on the treadmill, hit the bag or go do a few sets. Beats wasting an hour staring at the ceiling or watching TV. I still lift in the evenings regardless.
