The EPA Isn't Playing Around With Its Cummins Diesel Emissions Investigation

 

Engine maker Cummins to repair, replace 600,000 Ram trucks in $2 billion emissions cheating scandal

 

Yup,they got hit with a fine too. But this the largest fine the EPA has ever doled out!

 

The thing is in VW’s case they had to pay fines not just here in the US, but in Europe and other parts of the world as well!
The former CEO of Volkswagen,Martin Winterkorn, ended up resigning because of the scandal,German authorities put out a warrant for his arrest!
It’s not just the emissions that the vehicles put out, but scandal also hurt the resale values of the affected vehicles, some of which practically lost 1/2 to 3/4 of their total value virtually overnight!
Audi vehicles were affected by this as well as they shared some of same diesel engines with VW vehicles (in particular the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder and the 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel engines). Some of these vehicles were subject to buybacks.
On a high note, that means you can score some late model Audi A6s on the cheap!
