Sitting here thinking, always dangerous, on how long it's been since I hauled a load and hadn't been paid yet. I have hauled for three grain companies and the time to get paid varies on each one. One usually pays within a week. Another within a few days. The last one anywhere from 2-4 weeks. I'm talking door to door here, in other words day you mail it to day you receive payment. I have my own authority so this is when the grain companies actually pay me.

I was curious if this is about the same time it takes other hopper & dump truckers to get paid...actually any trucker.

Yes! Thinking can be dangerous! Especially when that thinking prompts you to start spending some money...:biggrin_255:

For us, it's pretty much the same as for you ,wh. If you do much of any hauling for Cargill, they'll do a direct deposit within a week or two. Some of the grain merchandisers won't pay you until they get paid for the grain on their end (which is a joke...your agreement to haul for them has nothing to do with whether or not they get paid for the grain you hauled). Some outfits take every bit of 30 days, and a rare few take even longer, but they tend to be brokers who conveniently offer to pay within a week if you deduct a percentage to be enrolled in their "quick pay" program. (I'm rolling my eyes at this point.) As a general rule, I've found the larger the company, the faster they pay. Also, if you're hauling direct for the product's seller or buyer, you tend to get paid faster. Anything that deals with a third party usually gets tied up for a period of time.

Highside, I do a lot of hauling for Cargill and and like you said I usually get paid in a week or so. TMA is the fastest, I usually got a check within 3 days of sending in paperwork...at least the last time I hauled for them and it's been a while.

I have one broker that offers quick pay option for a certain % of load. I opted for it but it seems stupid to pay them so they will pay us a little faster. I tried out a new broker last few weeks and got paid within two weeks so will probably continue to haul for them.

IH 9400 governed at 65. If you set the cruise at 65 it drops back to bout 61. Anyway to make it hold?

You need to get the cruise speed set to the road speed. Very easy and quick to do. Many leasing companies have the equipment as do the dealers. Even large trucking companies have this. If you know someone at a dealer, or offer someone $20.00, they may do it for you, provided it is not password protected. This can be done in less than five minutes.

Is this your own truck? If not, I'd ask around and see what the fleet manager thinks of his code being cracked :)

If it's yours, there's a bunch of shops out there that can plug in and change alot of things - rpm limiter, HP/torque settings, cruise limit, jake settings, engine idle-off timer, etc. Make sure you have it done by someone who knows what they're doing - any screw-ups and you could wind up with a bad program causing problems on the road.

It's not my truck. I'm just a co. driver. I don't use the cruise much running local but I went to pick up a new trailer Weds. in La. and the cruise would have been nice. It works OK except hitting 65. Like if I want to go 58 I just run up to bout 61 set it and it falls back to 58.

Funny that the conversation of ECM programing should come up. I took mine in to have the HP and TQ turned up. CRST had the N14 set at 400hp 1450 TQ which may have been fine for pulling vans but stinks for dragging a feed wagon. My milage has been lousy (67% fule cost for Feb.) and with it dragging back on every little hill my travel time was extended dramatically. When they hooked her up they found that my intake boost pressure switch was stuck in one range. What does that mean to me? 25% reduction in HP and TQ:biggrin_2551:. I was runnning a 300hp truck!!!!:biggrin_25510:
Have no choice but to replace the senso. So now????? :biggrin_25511:
    500HP and 1650Tq!!!!!:biggrin_25522:WoooHooo:biggrin_25522:
There is a guy near Effingham, IN that will make any adjustment to the ECM for $100 I have his number if anyone wants it. With my truck getting 4.5mpg's it was more cost effective to go to the Cummins dealer than wait till I could get ti IN.
