Has anyone tried s475 with 1.15ar ? How was the spool and egt? I am building another truck that will only run mountains. Looking for quicker spool and better Jake's down the mountain while still be able to make 600hp.

Your not gona make 600 hp with turbo if by some miracle you can there will be no longevity of that turbo
W923, Oxbow and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
How high of an altitude are you running in? If you are up high 3500ft or above 24/7 I would say go for it to see if you like it. EGT's are going to be an issue when warm or at lower altitude. You will find that because of the restriction more RPM on a climb will not equate to lower EGT because of back pressure at lower altitudes. Yes on faster spool. For most use cases the 1.32 is really the go to.

When you did your motor work, did you put a rebuild kit in the engine brakes? Jake maintenance tends to get forgotten about. Springs get weak, solenoids, accumulators, seals all wear.
A non variable vane geometry turbo older truck will never build boost and hold back like a VGT turbo truck.
As for overspeed. If it is an actual borg warner turbo, and you do not drive like a crazy person, again at your altitude I do not think you will have a problem. If you have the fuel to push that thing up past 50psi .... maybe. If you let off abruptly on every shift and stall the compressor to make the cool noise, definitely. But if you roll on and off the throttle driving a non stock truck responsibly ... it "should" last. -
No need for 50 psi since I'm not driving it I would keep it 35 and under. Spool and Jake's are pretty important reason I was thinking going s475 with smaller exducer was in hope of making decent power while keeping that quicker spool and Jake.
If 1.15 doesn't work I was thinking of adding exhaust brake to see if I can add more boost while Jake is on to provide more stopping power? Trying 1.15 was a cheaper option since I can get the housing for 250$ vs 1200$ for a complete 5 inch exhaust brake. -
I’ve never ran a exhaust brake myself but have heard they work wellbruce25 Thanks this. -
I guess I missed it…what engine is this going on?
