Hey, finfan....I don't know anything about USxpress, but I personally believe Roehl is the best to go with. I'm currently in school, and am going with them when I'm done in a couple weeks. I've spent hours and hours researching this forum and others, and have only found one or two people with bad things to say about Roehl...but a ton of people with a lot of negatives about a lot of the other big companies. So, Roehl's the choice for me. Good luck!!

    thanx bbqribs,
yeah, it seems like the hardest part of training is trying to pick the right company. i'm really checkin' em all out too because whoever i go with i'm telling myself i'm gonna try to stick it out thru thin and thick. i learned thru the car business-the grass is always greener on the other side...until u get there:thumbleft:

hey finfan, had a buddy decide to go to usxpress. started orientation on mon and turned in his stuff on thurs. did his orientation in lexington nc and they wanted him to drive to ga to meet up with his trainer. he also had a guy in his orientation group that was coming back after being away 90 days. this guy had already been working for the company and had to leave for a family issue. they were treating him like he just came in off the street. didn't quite sit right with my buddy. also looked like he wouldn't get home but about 4 - 5 days a month (not good for a dad with 2 kids).

I heard you loud and clear.....sometimes the grass in the new yard is actually dead...LOL It's very hard to know who to go with...the recruiters all sound so good when they are talking to ya, and I have found some instructers that will vouch for some of the companies with the worst reports on here, so it's confusing. I'm going with Roehl because of the consistency of high praise, and see how it goes. I like to stay with the same company for a long time....BUT if they start screwing you over....you have to take care of yourself, eh?

    thanx perry and ribs,
Wow perry i hope your friend settles in somewhere and makes some money(that'll show em). Ribs good luck at Roehl but i won't be seein' ya at the terminals. i was turned down by Roehl because i worked at 5 different jobs in the past 3 years(car salesman). isn't that ironic since my main goal has been to find someplace i can stay at. good luck to you, i have three more weeks to find my new people(and i will definitely be staying awhile)

Man, this decision is easy. Read that brochure from U.S. Xpress about their sliding pay scale. It wouldn't be so bad if the numbers were high, but they start too low and get even LOWER whenever you get a decent LOH. Basically, with U.S. Xpress, you either get shafted on miles or shafted on pay. Either way, your wallet is going to be very thin working for U.S. Xpress. And U.S. Xpress is PROUD of this fact!!! They advertise it like it's a GOOD thing.

If Roehl is willing to hire you, go with Roehl. It's not even a close comparison. Roehl vs. U.S. Xpress is like comparing Olive Garden to BK. :) -Dave

FinFan....man, that sucks! I've heard from many people that Roehl is hard to get in with, they are picky, but that sucks! I start orientation in Gary this coming Wednesday. If you want, you can email me at this same name here at hotmail.com, and I will give you the names of the inside recruiters I've been working with. It's worth a call to them to explain your work history and the reasons why it was short time with each company and see if they are able to make an exception. It seems to me that there is some rules they can't budge, but some things also they can work around if they want to, or feel they can take a chance and not get burnt. The easiest way to get them to take a chance is to talk with the ones on the inside and see if you can talk them into it. It's an option if you're still interested. Hope things work out for you!!

wassup ribs, i really appreciate the concern my man, but i decided to go with a home every weekend company. it ain't a fancy company like Roehl, but at least i'll be resettin' my clock at home. don' t get me wrong i would have rather went with Roehl. But once I lock in with Ready, I want to try to stay w/ them for at least 2 years. Keep On Truckin'
