Landstar drivers get less

bronc drank the koolaid. im with u, ls can lick sack. its too bad theyre letting the crooked agents ruin the co.

 

If LS has something posted on ITS for $2300 & their confirmation states they are holding 20%, would be a strong bet that it would not be signed & faxed back. I haven't hauled flatbed freight since '07 & am sure much has changed, but LS always confirmed/paid the dollar amount that was posted.

 

This is clearly a running your own authority versus being least on situation: I can say this, unless you are getting loads directly from a shipper there is at least one middle man in the picture and in many cases as with a LandStar multiple middle men in the middle, all of which are looking to get paid.

The option of running you own authority gives you the flexibility to eliminate the middle man altogether, and depending on market conditions you can literally strong arm the brokers to giving you more than what's in the load, that's right I said "more" than what's in the load., why, and more importantly "how":

The broker may have a hundred loads to get out in one day, he knows the game: he gotta get as much off of as many of those loads as possible, because the loads that he has that are in areas where trucks are weak the "sharks" (expediters) are lying in wait, and they "will not" accept any less on their rates!!!

and he already know that if he doesn't fulfill his contract to move those loads there are other brokers just busten the door down trying to get a chance to get those loads, so he's going to move maybe about 5% or more of his loads for "more" than he actually book them for and try to make it up on the rest of the loads.

That's why I say running your own authority and having a working knowledge of how the big picture works give you the greatest opportunity in trucking: in fact I would go as far as to say in all lease situation the company will set it up to the disadvantage of the O/O.

 

If it"s posted on the load borad LS (or anybodyelse) has already taken their cut

 

75% of the time i negotiate to get more than what's on the loadboard never ever have i heard of anybody getting less than the advertised rate (of course untill now)

last couple of weeks i've been pretty much getting all i want throwing some crazy #'s out because brokers are having hard time getting trucks

 

I can tell you what is going on with the load your talking about. It is a load that a broker has already taken their cut from and posted it on whatever load board. That broker is also a L/S agent and has posted it on L/S board. Or the load has been double or triple broked and the broker who has it posted on load board xyz got it from the same broker as the L/S agent. The load is cheap and that is why its posted on any board. If it was a high $$$$ load you won't even know about it because the agent would have called a BCO before it was posted any place. What I'm saying is it is leftovers.
