I deliver to a place just like that. In fact, I'll be there tomorrow morning at 0730.
Pull in. Pull forward and to the left until straight. Back alongside the building and fence for about 200 feet, and then make a gentle corner to the dock on the driver's side. There is a drainage ditch on the passangers side........

Mack, or others- Do you know if they make toy trucks to scale?

Sure, I have seen them in the chain truckstops (T/A, Love's and Pilot) and even seen some in Toys R Us (from time to time), including some Radio Controlled ones.

Boy, thats a hard one. Nothing sheer perserverence, and ultimately practice wont cure. Its something that just clicked for me watching the trailer wheels as they track along towards the dock, and knowing how to turn to make the corrections.
When I was learning I used to play with a toy truck too, and do think it helped.
    Good luck!

Ya know, when I had permits a few years ago, this was the one manuever that just "clicked" right off! It helped alot that the man who taught me had almost 50 years experience and could explain everything before you even attempted it....

What hung me up every time, was the pre trip! The woman at the DMV wanted EXACT techinical names for everything... !!!! Fuel filters weren't simply fuel filters, nor were oil filters or a dozen other things!

You just have to remember when your backing your steering the trailer, not the tractor, don't lose the back of the trailer in your mirrors and when your your lined up in the alley you only want to make small movements of the steering wheel( quarter turn or less). Large movements mean large over correction, not good in an alley. One of my instructors delivered into NYC for several years and the only way to get to the dock was to back down an alley for four blocks, one of the many reasons hell will be air conditioned before I go into the big apple.
