Werner - Not What I'd Heard (Thank God.)

This is the best advice I have read. It can be bleak no matter who you work for. Attention to the above advice will help you to overcome adversity and contribute to your satisfaction.

 

With werner do you bring the truck home when you are off for the weekend or do you park it in a yard, terminal in your area.
or drop the trailer and bobtail home from the yard.
I live in the north east and was just wondering about this.

 

From what I recall, you need to confirm a safe place to park the truck and trailer during hometime. And yes, you will be bringing a trailer home with you. If you take a moment to think about it, it's a good idea. Take an empty trailer home with you, and you're ready to go pickup that next load as soon as your hometime is done. No empty, and you gotta go hunting, which can really eat into your time. In my case, I had a secured lot to drop the trailer, and took the tractor to my house. This isn't company policy, since the company wants the tractor and trailer to remain hooked at all times to attempt to prevent theft, but in the "unwritten" policy you should have no problems as long as nothing happens to the trailer. Under no circumstances should you drop a loaded trailer anywhere but where it belongs without express company permission. Not yelling with that, just wanted to emphasize it. Common sense and all that.

 

I have a house on a corner lot, my property is on two streets on the side street its 150 feet deep and we have all bushes along that side of the house I wonder if I could just park it there on the side street.
Or should I just find out were to park it in my town.
also up the street from me is a wa wa and they have large lot behind it were big trucks park alot.
about a mile from my house is a condo complex and every weekend or every other I see a swift truck parked across the street from the complex on a vacant lot also.
One of my neighbors works for shoprite and I see him bobtail home and he parks the tractor in his driveway

 

Just make sure you have written permission from a lot's owner before you park. If you can park on the street (both tractor and trailer) without impeding traffic or annoying the neighbors, the company will be OK (generally) with that, since the vehicle would be somewhere you could reasonably be able to keep an eye on it.

That positive attitude will really help when you are working a hundred hours a week at minimum wage.

 

Im on the Sears Dedicated account out of Gouldsboro PA. and I live in north/central NJ. If I empty out in PA, I can drop the trailer at the DC and bobtail home. If my last stop is too far from the DC I the truck and trailer at a spot not too far from my house.

 

no one is "illegal". Please. There are only financially desperate people that were born elsewhere.

 

... And illegally entered the country.

I have all due sympathy for illegal immigrants. If I were in their position, I would probably have come here, too.

But in case you haven't noticed, we're having a hard time paying for benefits for our own, legitimate citizens at the moment. We're having a hard time employing our legitimate citizens, too.

So the whole bleeding heart routine, while compelling on a kind of abstract, emotional level, tends to go over like a lead balloon, especially here in I-work-70-hours-per-week-for-30k-per-year, trucking land.
