This has nothing to do with noise, or the environment, or any other "nusience " issue. A developer wants the land and is trying to make the track's business unsustainable by whatever means are available.

My guess is the track isn't the best of neighbors (some are, some are definitely not) so finding locals to be the front man isn't hard while a developer is paying the bills. I think that whomever is paying the legal fees or otherwise bankrolling litigation needs to be listed at the tip of any filling.

The problem is that Laguna Seca has been around for a long time. And if they close that racetrack where do you think those racers are going to go?

As a general rule, guys who'll go to the track, are going to race on the street. But if it closes, I doubt they'll get a replacement in California.

Both road courses in the Denver area closed years ago, the one replacement is an hour east out on the rolling plains. The last I saw, Bandimere (the drag strip) was talking of their new location being out past DIA somewhere.

There used to be one on US-30 between Schererville and Merrillville in Indiana. Naturally it was there before any subdivision was ever built. Then when housing started being built neighbors started complaining about the noise!

I would LOVE to see the track owners say "We agree that the time has come for the track to close. That is why we've come to the decision to develop the land for much-needed low-income housing."

The only problem is it’ll be turned into overpriced housing/condos or family homes, not low income housing.

haven't heard that stuff here in NC when the speedway added a 4 lane drag strip next to the speedway.

maybe some minor whining but not much.
