So if his actions drove of more drivers where is this 'more drivers than freight' you keep talking about? And what is your qualification , and , track record in running a stable company,or stable anything for that matter?

ET I appologize for the high-jacking of YOUR trhead. Unfortunately big Al thinks it is his personal mission in life to belittle OTR drivers. Even after it has been explained to him that we choose this segment of the industry, PIT FALLS & ALL SHORTCOMINGS INCLUDED.

 

yes Crete does pay O/Os for deadhead miles. But no FSC on d/h miles.

Speak for yourself! I do not wish to belittle drivers. I was one myself for 9 years. But the unfortunately the industry has turned to ####, and part of the reason is that drivers just keep bending over and say, "Oh well, that's trucking."

My main beef is that drivers are exploited because of a lack of labor protection. I am not a union guy or anything, but some type of regulation needs to be effected to make sure that drivers are compensated for ALL on duty time. It's not so much the money for the driver, but the financial penalty to carriers and shippers for poor management and operating practices.

Do you think a company would let 30 drivers sit all weekend if they were on the clock. No way. But under the present system, there is no financial incentive to do the right thing, so they steal the drivers time.

I remember one time when freight was pretty bad. My terminal manager was whining about my idle time. I told her that the week before last I sat 4 days out 7. You know what she said to me? Well , go inside the truck stop and hang out all day. The unmitigated gall! I am sitting totally uncompensated for four days? You won't pay for a hotel? And you have the nerve to tell me to spend all day in the truckstop? Screw you. But that is their mentality. You are a piece of meat, not a human being.

It's only gonna get worse.

 

Big Al, listen, this is a good board to read about the drivers at Crete and their experiences with the company. Your posts are at best....whiney-boring opinions of a pissed off trucker that thinks the world owes them something. I understand that you think you have been treated wrongly and obviously are having problems moving on, but that does not belong here. We can argue with you all day long but you have your opinions and we have ours. Why not start your own thread on the topic of how the trucking industry is crap and we are all fools for staying with it. Go away, we don't care, we like what we do, you won't change that so stop trying.

I can almost taste the BBQ sauce at Arthur Bryant's down at the Ameristar!

 

You taking it to that place right on Kansas Ave.? I was just there a couple weeks ago. They are terribly slow at getting around to unloading trucks to say the least.
