I was reading on another message board. A guy posted that his company just fired or canceled O/O leases on at least 6 drivers last week for CSA 2010 scores. It seems these lists are sortable by driver scores worst to best. You don't want to be at the top of one of those lists within your company. This guy pulls tankers for either Dana or QC.

Anyone else seeing proactive action by companies firing drivers and terminating leases?

And from what I understand, they won't be hired elsewhere due to this. So what will all these unemployed drivers do? Is there a solution to this?

That's probably not true at this point. I don't believe most companies are this far out in front of the curve. These guys were pulling hazmat tanks. They will find another job probably with another Tanker Co.

Bottom line is the freight still has to move and someone has to move it.

I know that Taylor Trucking Inc of MN let 2 go due to them being a liabilty to the co. with the CSA2010. But they are a bottom feeder scumbag operation. They want you as a driver, but treat you like dog ###### under the shoe.

May be harsh, but I reckon those that become unemployed due to it will wait the required time for the bad stuff to drop off, learn a lesson and run the way they are TOLD to run. Yepp, I don't like being mandated on dang near every aspect of doing my job. Everyone is lumped into a category of regulation by the lowest common denominator. But, in order to have a job you gotta do what you have to in order to be legal and keep the job.

Only solution out there is to run the way the bureaucrats tell us too.

My last company was starting to weed out drivers to get their score up for 2010 as early as last November. It would be smart to have started early if your score is too high. The sooner the high risk drivers are gone, and good inspections begin to drop the company score, the better.

The problem I can see is drivers being let go because of their scores, when their scores got high because of lack of company maintenance. We all know this can happen, and sometimes you have no choice but to move with something that the DOT would not approve of. The truth be told, there is something wrong on practically every truck on the road. I guarantee I could find something wrong on at the very least 9 out of every 10 trucks.

Drivers with miltiple speeding, log violation, or other driver caused tickets, will have to be let go if a company expects to remain in business.

That's true. A DOT inspection almost always finds something if you get one. The reality is that unless your company is flagged as being unsafe you chances of actually getting inspected is pretty low. I believe I saw a stat somewhere that a very high percentage of roadside inspections occur because of some other violation usually speeding. The trick is to not get inspected. Obey the speed limits, pretrip, and keep the truck clean and you are much less likely to get into trouble with CSA2010.

Your exactly right. My company put out a bulletin at our last safety meeting that stated the most common reasons for getting inspected. The #1 reason was getting caught speeding which led to an inspection. I don't remember all the others but a few of them were lights not working, damaged vehicles etc....

Our company has a 29 ISSD score which is an automatic pass when it comes to inspections but we still get several inspections a month. 99% of them are 100% clean. I think officers take those kind of things into consideration for the most part when inspecting someone as to whether they let something slide or mark it as a violation. I'm sure any inspector could find something on any truck on the road if they really wanted to. It's been said before and it always stands true that your attitude and professionalism goes a long way as well, in those kind of situations especially.

With a DriverSEA Score of 95.28, they will probably be doing more house-cleaning.
