Channel 18-19 troubles.

You say the radio is used. Some one may have done a 10Khz Mod to it. Flip a few switches. Such as Dim while checking the traffic on 19. And see if it goes away. If so turn to the real 19 and see if it's there. Or just run it on 18.

 

If it was on 18 but said 19 I think it would have to go 10 KHZ ? The switch problem sounds right.

 

As a side note:

I have had a few original galaxy 88 and galaxy 44 units in here on the bench in the past many months with this same issue. It appears as though these units are displaying an "age-related" issue that is starting to show itself. So far, the only solution to the problem has been to replace the frequency control board in these units. The 10K switch is the first suspect, but, if your tech tells you the freq. board is bad, expect to hear that as well.

 

I would agree, seems like someone may have attempted to add channels to it, which is useless, and then maybe added a 5 / 10k mod and never took the mod out?? There are several things that could be at fault.

 

If you get a response, you could try asking them what channel they are on. If they say that they are on 19 but your radio says 18, then it's going to be off frequency.
