Copied this info from the CSA 2010 handbook.
Data Access through its COMPASS program, the FMCSA has been making major upgrades to its technology systems. Key objectives of the program include:
- Creating a single online source for crucial safety data, allowing access to a variety of data systems through a single sign-on process
- Improving data quality to ensure better, more informed decision-making

Wait....
contain your happiness.... scroll down and read it again... It says:
"I am an individual driver. How do I enroll?
No enrollment is required for individual operator-applicants. You may purchase your personal record once the PSP system is live".

this stuff is rediculous and unfair to the driver. If these ratings and scores system is true then there goes 75% of the current driving force. There giving these trouble carriers intervention, they should also give a driver a chance for intervention before he or she loses his career. 90% of mechanical issues found on truck or trailer is due to lack of company maintenance. Heck Ive been writing up a power steering leak for the last 6 months still not fixed but I got a new fan clutch cause that went out last trip. Yep they seriously need to give drivers a chance to and look at the cause of a low score.

And it technically not in effect yet its being tested in some states and be completely enforced in july but I heard it was push back due to lack of funding. Yes drivers might be getting fired or lease terminated but I bet there is more to the story then just csa2010.

This is the major issue I have with CSA 2010. I'm not a driver yet but I'll be out there about the time CSA 2010 launches. My issue is this: CSA 2010 has been in the works for close to 10 years. The dire consequences to drivers has been a part of this from the getgo. Why, in the name of all that is fair and reasonable, didn't the FMCSA shout this from the mountaintops from the beginning and continue to shout it loud and clear over the past 4-5 years. I believe there are a lot of drivers out there that would have mended their ways, and mended them permanently, had this HUGE new way of enforcing compliance been shoved in their faces as an advance warning.
And, and to me this is no small and, how many lives could have been saved over the past few years as a result of non-compliant drivers changing their ways in lieu of losing their careers. There is an enormous body of evidence that proves that a small percentage of drivers cause a disproportionate number of crashes. People do change and for the better....but you've got to give them the opportunity and, unfortunately, the motivation!otherhalftw Thanks this.
