The air dam might come in to play when loading under chutes, I know of one place I load in particular that it most likely would not fit.

Thanks for replying, I will most likely have it removed this spring/summer. If it is a problem I can have it done before. I've seen some "double" bunk trucks dragging Oakley hoppers, I wouldn't think I am any taller than they are...Although, I do like the look of them removed.

If it were me I’d take it off just for the fact once it’s gone then your sleeper roof will pretty much match up to your trailer. And that would get you better fuel economy than leaving it on. You could take it off and leave the brackets then after you’ve been running a while and have some money built up you could remove the brackets, fill the holes, and touch up the paint.

There are places I load that I can't won't drive under, I back under them. That may be an option. I'd measure the truck height so as to know for certain where you can and cannot fit.

I'll call the body shop at Peterbilt in Joplin and ask how much they will charge to remove it. I asked before buying and they said they could, but I didn't ask how much or how long.

After a rough week in orientation I am currently sitting at my shipper in Darlington SC.

The weather has been brutal, cold, snow and ice caused our drug tests to be delayed 2 days. We weren’t able to sign our leases and road test until late friday afternoon/Saturday morning.

I was dispatched around 10am Saturday and told to head to Darlington. 883 empty miles, load and go 553 to empty. Not bad, I got almost 8mpg dragging an empty trailer running 70-71mph.

Pays 3200$ which beats the 1000$ we would have received sitting in the hotel all weekend.

I will be glad when my mentor catches up to me, I don’t know the procedure for checking in other than Channel 8 on the cb and using the transflo app to send in messages is a “blur” we went thru it so fast in orientation.

Although, Oakley was short on end dumps I received one.

The only thing I’m disappointed in is that while my truck was in the shop getting the wet kit installed somehow, someway my clutch got messed up. It used to engage after being almost completely released. Now it engages after lifting it a couple inches off the floor and I have no clutch brake. Shop denies any wrong doing. Basically said go away.

I’m praying it’s nothing major and I can run a couple weeks before having to take it to Pererbilt. Fingers crossed it’s covered by the warranty.

One more thing, It’s enjoyable to drive 65mph when you don’t have to, good fuel mileage and if I run up on someone that wants to play “games” I can pass them and get on down the road.

Honk if you see me out here. IMG_0977.jpeg IMG_0976.jpeg

Good luck, I know they're slow right now.

Can you get on the tanker side right from the get go?

If you want some good info, check out "Paper Boy Trucker" on YouTube. He runs for Oakley. It showed him from the beginning. I was surprised though how his supposed "Mentor" would just ASSUME he knew the ins and outs at the receivers. Kind of feel bad for company drivers or Lease ops. if this is a typical "Mentor/Trainor" relationship. It's like WTF man, if you don't want to TRAIN someone than don't. I don't get the "follow me" and then 5 minutes later the guy left him in the dust to just "figure it out himself" To the Paper Boy's credit, he did figure it out, but it shouldn't be that way.
