It was a regular (according to my memories) occurrence growing up when everything had mechanical fans. I see prints on the engines of everything now, but either the feral cats are more skittish, or the tight mounted electric fans made sleeping in the engine compartment safer these days.

Twice I contemplated new construction. First I drew plans, had down payment on land, bank ok, and seller did a back step. Took me a year and a half to get my money back. And well second was with my exwife. So I guess I'm happy they both fell through. I didn't want a house this big, still don't. But I grew up in it, and I want may daughter to also. I could live in a house half the size, or less. But I needed a shop, and now I have Dad's shop that we argued, or bonded in working on cars and trucks. So I compromised. And the gold digger can't get it from me now! Now I get to watch my kid wear the yard out on a Honda and I can complain just like him. Guess it's full circle. I'm practicing the "Shut the door, we're you raised in a barn? And complain how fast people drive by!singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy, TripleSix and 20 others Thank this. -
So do I. I used to walk dogs at the SPCA all the time before I moved out and away from the big city. Not many shelters nearby that are willing to take volunteers without a bunch of stuff like background checks and character references and I wasn't going to jump through those hoops when I'd be lucky to get out to volunteer once every couple weeks so I found other hobbies.blairandgretchen, singlescrewshaker, Feedman and 8 others Thank this.

Some days I wonder why I bought a 40 year old house. Mine's relatively solid but just lots of little things that were never tended to. The previous owner had done a few major things a couple years prior to me buying it, which made it a decent deal.
I spent most of the first summer here just getting the yard and house cleaned up. They left a bunch of crap behind. I think I hauled 3 or 4 pickup and trailer loads of garbage to the dump between the yard and the house.singlescrewshaker, Feedman, cke and 5 others Thank this. -
New home construction is just as bad. Known a lot of people that have very expensive pieces of shizz. Falls apart the same as my cheap one. But my cheap one is easier and cheaper to fix.

After that fire ripped through Fort Mac you should have seen some of the piss poor construction on the rebuilt homes. I heard some new homes had deficiencies totaling into 6 figures.JoeyJunk, singlescrewshaker, Tug Toy and 10 others Thank this.

I kind of follow two Home Inspectors on YouTube, one is in TX and the other Phoenix. It blows me away what they show on NICE new construction.singlescrewshaker, Feedman, cke and 8 others Thank this.

I'm almost certain that my next house is going to be a "shed" built in the corner of a 60x120 garage.
