When are people and especially drivers ever going to learn, there is such a thing as being too honest. Going into for a DOT physical is like being stopped for a minor traffic violation, keep your mouth shut. show respect but DO NOT ask questions or volunteer information. You do not have to be dishonest, just don't go "overboard".
High Stepper and Lonesome Thank this. -
The name of the game is “Cover your own ###”. The Company and their DOT Examiners are looking for the right answer. They’re playing game too. Give them the answer they want so they can cover themselves against Liability.

You can still apply with other companies before your orientation date with Western Express. You're not an employee until you pass orientation, road test, physical if required.

He had two small sons; 20 months and 6 months. Would facetime with his wife and kids every day at the end of his shift. He was trying to deal with it but totally stressed about the money. His family was living at his mom's house to save on housing. Company policy was out for 27 days, home for 3. Wasn't even that. He finally got home and his son's didn't know who he was. They couldn't connect the guy on the TV with the man standing at the front door. The youngest was terrified when his dad went to pick him up. Broke the guy and he left the truck owing 6500 on his contract. The contracts were later ruled unenforceable but at the time the company was using it a leverage. Actually had language in the contract of "indentured servitude".
OTR isn't a good job for a husband/father with small children. Look into local jobs delivering cement to see what they pay.Lonesome, Grouch and AteamDRIVER80 Thank this. -
