First time pulled over by DOT inspector.

    I got pulled over yesterday by DOT Highway Patrol Inspector. I was given a warning for 6 - 10 over speed limit and drivers side high beam not working.. My question is, this is just a warning so will this go on any record? Will this show up on the clearinghouse or DMV? I did have to turn in the warning to my employer and these need to be signed and returned to DOT and they also go to our safety department. I wonder if this will effect my safety bonus even though it's just a warning.

    Some of this depends on who you work for. A lot of these companies will use any means to keep from paying extra money like safety bonus.
    Speeding... headlight out. Both good reasons to loose your safety bonus. Again, depends on who you work for.

    If the "warning" was written on a Vehicle Inspection Form and your violations are recorded in the Violations section of the form, it will be on your driver PSP report for the next 3 years. The first year it may be tripled, doubled in the second year, normal severity for the thrid year, no effect 3 years and 1 day after the "warning". Some companies want all such incidents to be sent to them and some companies don't. Get another driver you trust to ask the company if it needs to be reported and then follow that company policy.

    assuming he had a level one inspection, he has to send the paperwork to the company.

    There are several 'anal' states that will contact the carrier looking for the un-returned inspection form.

    I always checked the FCMSA safety management system and hunted down the reports I did not receive.

    While 'on-site' audits are now rare; even 'mail me the stuff' audits look for the carrier to have a file full of their inspection reports.

    Turn the report in.
