Sorry to say, this is NOT one of those times.

"Bullies" contributed to her death..
Being raped by two of the accused contributed to her death.

And, as far as being "weak", it's OBVIOUS you have never been a 16 year old newly transplanted to a whole new COUNTRY, much less CITY, nor a 16 year old GIRL.

It wasn't "weakness", but HOPELESSNESS, that she would get relief from adults, and/or those in AUTHORITY from this desperate situation.


Suicide, to be sure, is a DESPERATE act....NOT a "weak" one.

I can agree with that, maybe I chose the wrong word.

I stand by the rest though.

 

I do not consider her weak for her reaction to the RAPE. However, these people who claim bullying is the cause of problems are just as full of BS as those who claim video games and movies cause violence. A bully needs his arse whipped, a rapist needs his ____ cut off and thrown out in gator infested swamps.

 

I was the short, fat, book worm nerd in school. I used to get bullied all the time.

One day I decided I had had enough and started fighting back. I lost a few fights, but never again backed down from one. It didn't take long for the bullies to decide to try an easier target.

 

A lot of people seem to lose the fact that this was a young female. Girls are wired a little different than boys. Some girls you can just look at them hard and it shuts them down. The fight or flight syndrome is geared more towards males. Given the trauma this young lady went through I doubt the rough, tough when I was in school outlook that nobody's going to walk on me does not even apply here. So a few of you was bullied. Some took a few beatings. Were you sexually assaulted and tormented or just made fun of?

 

These kids were NOT "just" bullying this girl.
They were stalking, tormenting, and abusing her....
At school, at home, through her cell phone, through texting, emails, home phone, driving by her home and yelling obscenities, and , EVEN AFTER HER DEATH, they tormented her family via a facebook memorial page.


IMHO, these kids DESERVE every charge they are facing, and every punishment that can be given them. IMHO, what they did was pure evil.


And as far as Phoebe Prince being "weak", or any other such, by committing suicide...we have to remember...she came from a different country, with different ways of looking at things. And, when she and her family received NO HELP from the school system, she MAY have felt that her situation was so hopeless, and helpless, that her only avenue of escape from the torment and pain, was through death.

Playing world of Warcraft I am aware of cyber bullying these days. The kids just dont get it, as their parents arent there to tell them what you are doing is just plain wrong. The kids seem to think this sort of behaviour is ok. We parents need to take more time to pay attention to our kids. Paying the bills is not an excuse for allowing this behaviour.

My heart goes out to the family of the suicidal girl. For I too have lost a family member to suicide.

Mooney I mean this in a polite way, but your being plain ignorant.

 

I was just thinking if that was my grand daughter, I do believe I would be at the court house every day getting every bit of information on all the families. But then again I am a forgive and forget kind of guy. I never forgive and never forget. I would be looking to be sure all those charged and their parents never forget, and ??????

 

My sister was bullied, she was never sexually assaulted, but there were some guys and girls in highschool who tried to make her feel like trash. I went and spoke with the school police officer and told him if it happened again Jenny would be hurting somebody. I showed her where and how to hit, and grab to make the most excruciating pain possible after her coming home from school for a month solid crying. 3 days later mom was called to the school because Jenny had assaulted 2 varsity football players. I looked at the principal (same coward who had given me detention in jr high for defending myself) and told him if he put any mark on Jenny's record I would teach him about assault. She had been to him, to other administration, and NOBODY would stop it so SHE did.
Problem never happened again with her or any of her friends.
