I'm finishing assembly of front section on my 3406b after reseal. When I put the acc cover on the plate, I thought I had the compressor spacer in properly but when trying to mount compressor (after the fact) found that the spacer was not all the way into the plate. I could feel about a .030" ledge keeping it from going in completely. I went ahead and used the compressor and it's bolts to attempt to draw the spacer into place after loosening all the external bolts on the acc drive cover (3 inside studs still torqued). It worked as planned and the spacer did pull into position, however the gear lash on the compressor gear is very minimal. You have to look very intently to see the compressor gear move a tiny bit before it moves the idler gear. I'm not really able to get a solid answer so far as to whether this amount of lash will be ok. Any thoughts?

I do not totally follow you but will share this. I had an employee pull the gear box and pump off a 1982? big cam C/O Freightliner. He put it on a a 4000 White with a tilt hood and a small cam. Made a plate to mount it to the frame. He was good with stuff like that. Called me to look at the gear back lash because it had none. Thought about pto gear lash. If they are to loose they will rattle. If to tight they will scream. Told him to pump some oil in it first and start it up. Does it scream? It did not and that yard truck ran for years. I thank you are good.

Thanks for your input BoxCarKid. I continued to put it together and am running it. No unusual noise so far.
