Back to the road, may be long

Well after several crazy months I’m back on the road with J&R Schugel on a local driving job, from Dryridge Kentucky to Ft Wayne Indiana and back

Got hired at 160 Driving Academy in Florence Ky as an instructor, one of my “bucket list” things was to teach people how to get their CDL. In the beginning it was great( the $ sucked and took a huge pay cut coming off the road) bad thing is we got paid on the 1st and 15th so being use to a weekly paycheck that took some getting use to; then starting in October we hit the Fall/Winter slow down, we had a 3:1 student/instructor ratio, we had 7 instructors and most of the time Oct-Jan 26th ( when I finally left) we only had enough students for 3-4 instructors on the yard and eventually only 1-2 instructors, so you would get sent home at the start of the day and only be paid for 4 hrs instead of the full 8 hrs
Christmas time I took my “staycation” and the wife and I had a come to Jesus meeting, I kept telling g the students, having a CDL will change your life, making good money, however I WAS DRIVING the Struggle bus and could barley afford to pay our bills every month. So decided it was time to stop
Struggling and get back to making better money,’so I started searching for local home daily jobs in the Cincinnati area, and just for the kicks I reached out to J&R Schugel since I had 2 yrs of experience with them, and left in good standing. To my surprise the reached back out and said they actually had a local home daily here is the job and the pay it’s Tues-Sat day time hours
I jumped on it, put in my notice to 160 and went to orientation, day two of orientation my dispatcher (fleet manager) reached out and asked if I would be willing to change from Tues-Sat and work M-F and be off Saturday Sunday, umm yes please

anyway sorry for the long ramble tomorrow is my first day back behind the wheel in a few months and I’m excited

DON’T hear what I’m not saying 160 Driving Academy is a great school and the largest in the country (by the end of 2024 they will have 172 locations) I just couldn’t make it make sense financially 2022 KW T680
