OK so I have a question I have a 2020 Freightliner cascadia with a DD15 motor set at 1550 ft lbs of torque I want to find out if I could increase it to 1750 or 1850. If so would it just be a software change ot wou,d it be more to it? Reading it seams that the DD15 can produce 1850 ftlbs but is it the same engine meaning do they build the DD15 differently based on the torque.

I think it may depend on the application it was originally built for. I’d just check with Freightliner.
Sharky88 Thanks this. -
It's a class 8 otr truck.

Detroit Desiel can answer that. I tried to on a 2013 DD15 but it only had two settings. I couldn’t get the 500hp on it because that engine was not designed for 500hp. Freightliner didn’t know other than what was in the DDDL. Same should go for Tq.Last edited: Feb 8, 2024
Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
Thanks yeah mine is set at 505 hp with 1550
-
contact Detroit desiel, they will take the numbers and tell you what can and can’t do. Freightliner techs will tell you the same.Crude Truckin' and Sharky88 Thank this.

He means what the engine was spec'd for with that drive train. If you have a 505hp rating, then the torque is limited for a reason, you have an autoshift trans?Crude Truckin', Sharky88 and LoneRanger Thank this.

OK got it. Yes it's a DT 12

I’m not sure about the DT12, but there’s soooooo many different ratings for engines/drivelines. Not trying to be a dick, but you just need to contact Freightliner or Detroit. All you’re gonna get here is speculation.Big Road Skateboard and Sharky88 Thank this.
