Well...that happened.
OLDSKOOLERnWV and motocross25 Thank this. -
If it had hit a semi they still would have found a way to blame the semi.

That 600 had more touch than go .

Pilot was between a rock and a hard place with engines down . A foot or two difference could’ve changed the outcome.RIP

Shortchanged himself on fuel??

Pretty harsh, but I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. Get this, in the US, there are almost 9800 planes in the air at any given moment, transporting an astonishing 1.3 million people. Per mile, it's the safest way to travel. Burning pretty good to be out of fuel, hey, it's a human guided machine and you can't have zero risk. Amazing it works as well as it does at all.
Sons Hero, REO6205 and silverspur Thank this. -
Double engine failure. And planes are supposed to have a reserve in case the plane has to divert to an alternate airport.

Supposed to but sometimes things happen. Good example is a friend has an old 1950ish piper tripacer. He had a screw back out at some point inside the left wing that wore a hole into his fuel tank that either happened between inspections or was missed. He went up and never noticed but went back early because his plane was not handleing correctly (because the left tank was empty and throwing the weight off pretty badly). He never saw fuel pouring off the wings because it was draining down the inside of the wing and draining out in a spot he couldnt see from inside. he had all of 15 pounds left instead of the i think he said 100 he was expecting.
