I just PM’d you. Look for the little envelope to get highlighted green at the top right of the page, that lets you know you have a private message.

Here’s my breakdown for this pay period. I flew back on Sunday and was settled back in the truck Sunday evening. Monday was a holiday. I’m not totally in tune to how they do sorts on holidays, but it turned out that I did nothing on the Linehaul end, but did get my truck serviced and 2 new steers put on. Sunday didn’t count as a payday, but from Monday on it was.
Tuesday morning I got assigned a Northern Kentucky (NOKY) run, 297 miles. Pulled a single loaded pup up. Got there and immediately was assigned a run back down to Nashville, 257 miles. That too was a single loaded pup. Got there and was immediately sent to my home hub in Murfreesboro, 42 miles with an empty pup. Took my 10 and Wednesday morning was assigned the same run back to NOKY, but this time with a 53’. Got turned right around and sent back to Nashville with a loaded 53’ then took an empty 53’ to Murf. Took my 10 and Thursday it was the same exact thing. Loaded 53’ to NOKY then a loaded 53’ to Nashville and then bobtail back to Murf. Yesterday morning got assigned the same exact run with a loaded 53’ to NOKY. When I ended my trip, I immediately had a bobtail move back to Murf.
Now it’s Saturday morning with a new pay period that started at midnight last night. I haven’t been dispatched, the sort is over. But because I’m here and ready, I am on call today and tomorrow. Being on call mean’s rescuing a trailer from a driver that broke down, moving empty equipment from this hub to another if needed, but more than likely, watching TV for the weekend.
Here are my numbers.
5 days worked
2397 miles
44 hours used on my clock
397 of my miles are bonus miles for going over the 2000 mile threshold.
I’m learning more and more about how this system operates. Thats one thing, but I’m also learning more and more about how each individual hub works. For instance, NOKY is a directional hub, what that means is you get sent back to your domiciled hub. No wild tours of the country. Out and back. That’s why I did 4 round trips this week. My ops manager told me this morning he will work very diligently to get me west, which is Lenexa from here then Denver, SLC. Reno etc. those hubs, as a driver, you can ask for any direction you want. As a solo Linehaul driver, I will be dispatched on runs that end within my 11/14. I haven’t slept in a truckstop, fueled at one or worried one bit about parking since I started here on January 2nd.
I did notice something that is rather astonishing. The buying power of FEDEX is amazing. Fuel at the hubs is on average $1.00 a gallon cheaper than the truckstops. But the one thing that blew my mind was the DEF. it’s $1.35 per gallon at the hubs. That’s my week. Be safe everyone.4mer trucker, High Stepper, runningman0661 and 10 others Thank this. -
So you work out of a Tennessee terminal?
You can’t get into one closer to home?IH9300SBA, Lonesome and Old_n_gray Thank this. -
Yes I do. I could probably get on with a contractor closer to home, but it has a lot to do with the contractor. The one I work for pays on the top end of the scale, pays by W-2, has health insurance and a 401K that I just rolled my previous one over to. From what I’ve heard, there’s a bunch of contractors that are borderline sweat shops. I lucked out here. The top team at the other company found this job by accident, researched it, worked here for 6 months, convinced the next 4 top teams to come over, the woman that I took last April on my truck at the other company came over, and I was being bombarded with text and phone calls to make the change. I finally figured out that the other job was going nowhere and decided to come on board. I’m glad I did. I should have come onboard last May. For what I have here, this is turned into a good gig.austinmike, dwells40, High Stepper and 7 others Thank this.

You definitely got a work smarter not harder job…and pays great too…

Sweet.

So the long term plan will be flying back and forth for home time? (which at 100 CPM would be doable if you stayed out for a bit) Or will they eventually hold/organize runs going south to get you closer to home?
