Sometimes, depending on your weight and suitable gearbox, it is possible to gently test higher gears than normal to 'creep out of it. I once had a Foden (later bought out by Paccer and dumped:() with the company's own excellent 12 speed gearbox. I was heading empty up a steep hill towards a quarry to get loaded, but it started to snow, lost traction and came to a stop. I tried several different gears, very gently, and to my surprise it gently took off. I made it to the quarry and loaded but had to stay there the night on the frozen access road out, couldn't make the same trick work twice. Never mind, I wasn't the only driver stuck, and it was only a half mile trudge through the snow to a pub with a blazing log fire where a convivial evening was had by all.;-)

We've already had several big thaws in Utah. Thrown chains more for mud this winter than snow. Haven't seen a winter this warm and dry in ages.

Once you park, roll forward & backward several time to knock down the piles on snow that may act like wheel chocks in the morning. Leave your brakes pushed in for a few minutes, stay in the seat, and then pull the tractor valve. Leave trailer valve charged. If brakes stick, roll backward a bit. It's more effective than rolling forward.

Eastern Canada has been under siege from snow with Newfoundland getting it the worst I believe.

I haven’t seen anyone mention to avoid parking facing uphill if it can be avoided.

actually i took full advantage of those "warmed tires" when i got to a truck stop.

i'd find a parking space, then i'd go forward and backwards several times, to pack down any snow.

same thing with the ice, forward and backwards several times, was enough to cool down the tires, as to not sink into, the ice.

no issues of ever getting stuck.

at loading docks, that's not always possible, so i had a 50/50 mix of kitty litter (or zip-zorb that garages use), and rock salt, in a 5 gallon pail (with a lid).
