Speed limiters and in-cab warning devices coming to British Columbia
This should end well, with all their 2 lane, 100km/h roads, add winding terrain and grades. Read this and recalled the endless stupidity in Northern Ontario with similar 2 lanes, not nearly the winding or gradient. Glad I'm on my way out!

You know what's funny? There are only about 2 traffic cops patroling that whole stretch of Highway 5 where all the near misses and incidents are occurring. I honestly cannot recall the last time I've seen a cop on road patrol on Highway 5 in the last few years. Of course people are going to drive like morons when they can get away with it.

Add in all the morons that shouldn't even be allowed to pull a rickshaw and its no wonder there are so many problems on the roads out there.

Ontario and Quebec don’t check speed limiters anymore because ooida was about to win a huge case against them so they dropped the charge .. the device they used was proven to unable to properly determine if a vehicle had a speed limiter set at 105 km/hr had they lost the case it might have resulted in them having to refund every ticket.. now they only ticket at 115 km/hr in Ontario because of the way the law is written.. Quebec has a lower threshold I believe.. PS everyone knows accidents skyrocketed after they implemented the limiter law ..

Does anyone know if a pre 1994 truck with an electronic engine is still exempt? Is it saying pre 1994 AND electronic engine or 1994 OR electronic engine? This is the way it is written:
"All commercial vehicles operating in the province manufactured after 1994, with a gross vehicle rating of more than 11,793 kg, that have an electronically controlled engine must have their speed limiters activated, set and accurately programmed to a maximum rate of speed of 105 km/hr by April 5, 2024."Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Likely going to be enforced as, if it is built 1995+, it had better be set, or else tell it to the judge.. the inspectors wouldn't know a mechanical engine if they saw one anyway.
If you want to call the scales, here's a list of them, with phone numbers,

I can just see 5 turning into a disaster because of this. Those who drive poorly couldn't safely pass to start with, now it'll be snail races on the 2 lane. Every passing lane (which in BC will be about every 50 km) will turn into gridlock because some impatient a-hole will hog the left lane going 1 km/h faster. They'll take the whole 2 km passing lane to pass another truck.

Yep, and then - since every regulation ever written only improves things, even more will be written.
