I did not have any trouble running a route to that address. If you have not updated the maps and software in your unit, please call Customer Service and order the free update. The number is 773-889-3087. Please have the serial number of your unit when calling.

BrianSSNVEGAS Thanks this. -
Since updating with the DVD, some wierd crap is now happening. If I am in Toronto on Highway 401, the unit now uses terms like O.N 401, where it use to say Q.E.W, now it says "Q" like it read the entire word"qew"
And the most agravating thing it is doing now is telling me to "keep to the left" Example.
If I plan a simple route from Montreal to Toronto, at almost every exit that I pass, it will tell me to "keep to the left" This is starting to drive me nuts.
Also for you guys who can't see your right front fender because of the size of this unit because it sits on your dash or winsheild? I took mine apart and put it on my sunvisor. I used 2 large thin black ties to hold it to the sunvisor, it's snug and looks good. I bought an extension plug and ran the wires under my dash and out of sight......If I could post a picture I would....Can we post here?
MichaelKimono_skunk Thanks this. -
WOW, what a long strange trip its been.
I have test drove the RM TND 500, Garmin 465T and now the Cobra 7700 these last two weeks, and so far the 7700 is by far the better functioning Truck GPS, hands down. Its not as " pretty" as the other two but it works great.
Its still a little quirky and the screen is GINORMOUS but its been real good so far.
I was wondering since the screen is so big has Cobra thought about releasing a picture viewer app for viewing personal photos from the SD card, maybe even a video player that would be nice. -
Thanks Maallen40
I thought i was the only one with this problem . You will find it also now calls hwy 7
regional rd 7 all the 400 series hwys are now called ON -
How is it with truck routes and addresses up here in the Great White North?

Brian,
Start from 2755 190th St in Langley, British Columbia with a destination of 101 Weston in Winnipeg Manitoba. Use route option "shortest time" and it returns a route with 2828 km and an estimated time of 29:23. Use route option "Shortest distance" and it returns a route totaling 2260 km and an estimated time of 22:45. That is a difference of 568 kilometers or 355 miles. The time difference adds up to more than 7 hours.
Practically speaking the most direct and viable route consists of Trans Canada 1, BC-5, TC1 if going through Calgary Alberta. Yet when route option shortest time is chosen the unit indicates all sorts of secondary routes leading away from the previously mentioned. I find that an additional 568 kilometers on secondary routes would not be a particularly attractive or practical way to go.
I note that when specifying various routes in the US and switching between shortest distance and shortest time ususally results in less than 80 kilometers difference and an hour or two on time. That's why I am puzzled by the extreme difference here especially considering that our road network gives a lot less options than the extensive netwotk in the States.
As far as truck restricted routes go, two examples are 24th Ave in Surrey, BC. On several occassions the unit has indicated a route using this road, yet it is a restricted route. Another is 88th avenue off 200th street in Langley, BC. I turned down this road and after several blocks it turned into a truck restricted route. Another is Columbia Avenue in New Westminster, BC starting at Front street, turns into a truck restricted route, but the unit doesn't recognize that either.
In addition, the unit labels BCHWY-5 north from Kamloops, BC to Valemount BC as BC-16. It does not become BC-16 until the intersection at Tete Jaune Cache, BC.
My truck specs are three axle tractor, tandem split axle 53 foot trailer, using the standard unit specs as supplied in the 7700.
I use the unit, not only for directions when required, but also to track my progress, etc. I certainl appreciate you replying to my post and am hopeful that an explanation is availalble. I like the unit, but to have some reservations about its accuracy. I do check other sources after it lays out a route and I can understand minor differences, but to me the above is not minor.
To get a fix for the unnecessary warnings would be an added bonus.
Thank you again for your assistance -

I'd like to know how to eliminate the "French" that keeps happening in Ontario (when trip is set), so that the language spoken continues to be English, regardless if I am in Quebec, Ontario, ect. (e.g. 401 west is 401-"O")

Thx, Doug
