    But in this case wouldn't it invalidate the 2 hour break attempt from earlier extending your 14? The reg says MUST be paired with a CONSECUTIVE 8 hour sleeper berth period.

    Wouldn't that put me in violation anyway then?

    Just for clarification.
    the reg states on a split sleeper 2/8 or 3/7 the the longer (7-8 hr) requires SEVEN HOURS CONSCECUTIVE of sleeper birth. So on a 2/8 only 7hrs is required to be in the sleeper the other 1hr is not
