I had an Allison automatic service center replace my 650,000 mile transmission.
2007 Freightliner M2 with all the scars and warts associated with 650,000 miles.
    The New one leaks.
I took it back and was assured it was good now.
    Still leaks.
The PTO operates from the dash with a switch.
When I engage it, sometimes it works with full hydraulic power, sometimes not.
It seems like flow is bypassing somewhere intermittently.
I will be making an appointment in the morning to take it back, again,
to be diagnosed and fixed for good this time.
I did get a 2 year unlimited miles warranty, and bought additional 2 years.
I'd have to look at the bill, but this is like 2 months into this.
I was expecting 4 years of trouble free driving,
on golden roads with bluebirds flying around me.
    It's been anything but.
    Oh; and $8,000 later.
    Not happy.
So..... do I elevate this to Corporate, if this 3rd time is not "the charm?"
Will this just make enemies with the local service center?
I need the truck, and don't have time for nonsense.

Grumppy and Crude Truckin' Thank this.

I would first politely escalate in house. Speak to the service manager if you have not already or even the General Manager. If there is not a quick and proper repair I would then go outside to regional or corporate.
HQ contact on this link and also can select Region.

Thanks, JB7. Kinda what I thought.
They have been cordial, and so have I.
The service manager and I are good.
    Can't believe it still leaks.
Seems to be in a horizontal line in the front.
Hope it's not the main seal and it's gotta come out again.
I don't have time for this.
(Just snowed 1/2" on the truck here in NE Pa.)

    Grumppy Thanks this.

Contact Allison customer service, and ask for a call from your local rep.

Tell that rep your issues, and concerns that the dealerships service dept is incapable of proper repairs.

    They should facilitate proper repairs.

I personally wouldn't allow them to start repairs before this.

OLDSKOOLERnWV and Diesel Dave Thank this.

I do all my own work, king/link pins, bushings, hubs, brakes, changed rears.
This is too important to farm out to - junkyard tranny guy.
I'd rather not start off as an adversary with Allison, I need them for the 4 yr warranty.
It shines like a new watch.
I'll just take it in and see how it goes. Maybe something simple.
May Jim Bob will discover; "look, the fravastat is loose, and it fixes it."

Don't know, but it Don't look good for the front seal. IMHO.
That means OOS for 3 days.

    OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

Possibly too much throw it in there and get it out the door. Sure hate you’re having these issues….

Thank you Oldskooler, not what I expected either.
Called this morning and got an appointment for Monday first thing.
I'm gonna drop it off and see how it goes.
I really don't need this right now coming up on my busy season.
Bad timing for problems; guess there's no good time for this to happen?
Funny thing is, when I put in PTO, sometimes it works like a champ,
maybe for several times in a row, then it goes limp the next time,
hardly has enough hyd. power to move anything? IDK???

    OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.

Well let’s hope it’s a small thing creating a big problem and not a big problem. I’m not very savvy on the automatic set ups. Drove a dump truck for EZ with an automatic, had to put trans in drive then engage the pto and then put trans in neutral, your setup similar to that…?

Well, rc, I always considered you one of the "old timers", why would you even consider an automatic, if I'm reading this right. On another post, someone was touting the advantages of automatics, and quite frankly, I just don't see it. MPG, mostly, and if so, hardly makes up for the repairs and downtime of an automatic. Nothing has stood the test of time like trucks with manual transmissions, automatics NEVER could handle the loads. They are nothing more than a half baked, hastily made concoction because truck drivers no longer can shift a manual. It's an unsettling time for trucks, one that will surely go down in history as one of the biggest blunders in trucking. I never drove a automatic semi, I suppose if I had to, I would, heck, I drove a cabover Freightliner the boss told me to, but I never worried about a transmission, and in the 3.5 million miles in a truck, I don't ever recall one not getting me home.
