If you just want to drive around doing drop switches or sitting at shippers/receivers playing on your phone while you’re getting off loaded or loaded it’s going to be tough to find a good paying driving job . if your willing to do work outside of driving that’s were the money is . It’s taking me a long time to figure that out and after 16 years of doing drop switches/sitting around watching youtube on my phone i’ve had enough and want something different . I’m looking at Dz driving jobs now because of the pay . finding Az job in the $30 a hr range within the gta or 1 hr drive from orangeville where i live is real tough And at this point could careless if i’m dragging around a trailer or not

Did you try Tim Hortons?Peplow Thanks this.

How did you guys start your DZ career with no experience? just got an opportunity and was lucky?
-
No I was scared to because of what everyone was saying about tim hortons on my thread . I will say i’m having a hard time pulling the trigger on anything to be honest. I like where i work but the money is just not here . with everything going up and up something has to change unfortunately. I finally broke $60k last year for income it’s a joke here
Tim hortons got a pay raise $31.25 to start and $36.50 after 3 years ot after 80 hrs for 2 weeks . They’re always hiring which makes me think it’s not all that great of a place to work for . I see MB hiring for BramptonLast edited: Mar 19, 2024

I bought a econoline van and took a gig doing parcel divivery for 3 years which made it not too hard to get on at a driver agency doing DZ work. after a year of that I switched to AZ work.
The rest as they say ,is history

I started out driving a straight truck with sleeper on the back doing deliveries both here in ontario and the usa for a father and son company . I found them on indeed, look for driver wanted ads on kijji, indeed, facebook etc etc
I would stay away from driver agency jobs that labels you as a contractor when you’re actually an employee because the government is cracking down on so called driver inc companies . It could come back to bit you in the butt down the road -
That's beyond a joke. That is really sad. You'd make more than that your first year at MB. Our contract is up at the end of April so we are expecting a nice raise. Our new DC in Oshawa is supposed to open in October.

MB isn’t going to work for me I need a set schedule every week, i have a hard enough time sleeping during the day being i’m on nights and have no desire to live in the oshawa area . What gets me is kriska has job posting for prescott and Montreal advertising 75-80k a year for local drivers . I’ve been here since 2012 and have never come anywhere close to those numbers . I’m thinking there adding benefits into that pay which is bs and misleading in my bookLast edited: Mar 20, 2024

Thanks alot for the help guys. A couple of here definitely helped me out. 75-80k a year for just a truck driver sounds amazing.
